Ridgid plastic sled. Deers already strapped down in it. Lity up one end set it down on the gate and shove it in.

Bear hugging works for me as well when alone, but only cause I have to.[:'(] Adding a hitch to my truck and using a carryall this season:D.

What you do is take like 40 ft of rope, strong enough to hold the beast, Take the rope and tie a slip-knot place it around the deers Neck and throw the other end over a thick tree branch, then take it go around the base of another tree , then tie it to the bumper of your truck, get your truck situated so that when you back up the deer is dangling over the bed of your truck. you may have to get creative on a way to get it lowered into the bed, but my pap used this method for YEARS when his health was declining.

Ryan that's a great idea but how do you lower it down into the truck? Just drop it in by releasing the rope off the bumper? I'll have to try this one this season. Until now I've used the "drag that bastard up by it's antlers" method which leaves me frustrated and bloody, especially after I've had to drag it 200+ yards back to the truck (which happens more times than not).

I'm thinking if you get more rope you can close it in your door instead of tieing it to the bumper, then you can control its rate of decent better, it works, he only ever told me how he did it so im piecing it together from memory, like i said you may have to try it with something else first to get it down to a science but it works great and i mean great, if its a doe, dont lift it as high and cut the rope and let it fall in the bed you can back up to a point where your rope is tight and back the deer up while its on the ground then when you pull back the deer wont have as far to go, your removing all the weight off yourself by using your vehicle.
