Im never one to insult another guys work but Im going to tell you to find a new taxidermist. The eyes are messed up as well. they look like the wrong eyes, they are way to large, and the ears look like they were run over by a convoy of 18 wheelers, If your taxidermist is any good and backs his workhe will redo the deer at no charge to your liking. I would have told him to redo it before I even taken it out of the shop. A good taxidermist would have did it the way you wanted it. Sure this isnt the greatest picture but you can see the quality my taxidermist put in to the one I got back in 02. I fyou notice the little white strip on its mouth, the jaw had dropped after drying because the apprentice taxidermist cut the mouth too far back, I called my taxidermist told me to bring it in, had it fixed in 3 days, no charge and a complete cleaning and touch up. Which I can have my mounts cleaned and touched up and repairedby him at no charge (ifmount workrelated)when ever I feel necessary. Now thats a taxidermist who stands behind his work and is loyal to his customers, this is why hes one of the largest taxidermist in Central Wi. I have yet to see anyone that has not been happy with his work. My turn around time back in 02 was 3 months. I was 89th in the line onopening day of deer season.

Hey Don....

Congratulations, again, on a fine, fine buck:)

Didn't I remember you saying that he wasn't charging you......or that someone else paid for the taxi work? Can't remember.....but I remember you weren't going to have it mounted, initially.

I got lucky (kind of.....I actually asked around before I ever killed a "mountable" deer) and found my taxi. He does incredible work......and he's proud of it (;):D).

I hope you get this worked out.

I, too, love the ears pinned back. My '06 buck has them all the way back and the '07 has them halfway up/down.

Photo for reference, only:D;)

It is a great buck . But I think I would kill a guy if my deer ended up looking like that .

Jeff, you are correct. I actually had no intention of doing a shoulder mount on this deer, or any deer for that matter. I just had a hard time justifying the money, just to put a deer on the wall.

The day I shot him, I called my best friend, Dave. After talking to he and the wife, she absolutely, postively, after threatening to change my gender, w/out argument, told me to get it mounted, and they would pay for it. So I did. Begrudgingly, truthfully. But she is just not someone a guy wants to argue with, and she caught me in a moment of weakness. 10 minutes after I shot him, I would have agreed to pretty near anything.

I've told them several times that "thank you" just didn't seem like enough, but it's all I have. I thought of something else the other day. I'm gonna pay it forward. At some point in my future, some young hunter will be in the position I was in last year, and I'm gonna mount his buck for him.

Don... congrats on your buck again. I hope it all works out in the end with the taxi work. You deserved much better. I'll second what Shultzy said.

Good luck this year.

Tim
