Germ, I'm learning that the smallest details sometimes make the biggest difference. And scent control is a major player in that. I'm almost OCD when it comes to scent control. It's almost like work. I do alot of the same things you do, but I wear latex gloves when handling my clothing during the washing process. I spray my hands down w/ scent eliminator, they dry, put on the gloves, spray them as well.

That I'm aware of, I wasn't winded on stand last season. I'm certain there are a few that caught me that I never knew were there, and they just slipped out. But I was never once blown at by a deer that was downwind. Of all the deer I saw on stand last year, only one had any clue that I was there, and I killed him anyway. He saw me move. Every other deer I had in and around my kill zone was calm as could be. I've got a hell of a lot to learn, but I'm doing something right anyway.

A solid scent control regime, coupled with wind direction and thermals are major players.
Mobow, the glove are a good idea, but I found that many of the store bought latex gloves have talc on them. Whether or not that has an odor or not I'm not sure, but I started using the rubber diswashing gloves instead for handling gear. The are more resuable too.

Those of you that spend tons of time going through the spray down/ gargle/ clothes change/ spray down......is this something that you find enjoyable? Honestly, I don't spend that much time and effort when I want to smell good.

I shower with the green soap, wash clothes in unscented detergent and spray down......then I hunt. Most of the folks I hunt with give me grief about how much I worry about my scent. When do you think "Ok, I'm finally clean enough"? I often wonder what new hunters think when they readthe lengths some go to for the unscented advantage.

Is it true that Klingon's have been spotted around Uranus?? [:-]
Gregh we all do things that others find goofy

With expection of one spot I hunt a deer would have to be swimming or on the neighbors land, but even than I do not want to get winded.

Germ,
Whatever it takes, you gotta do what you gotta do in order to not be detected.

Give me awhile, I'm thinking up some questions to ask about your scientific data and proof that your method works. Then I'm going to come back and state that it won't work for me in "my" area. Besides, when you hunt in a fish bowl like I do, you don't need to take any precautions. You just call the one you want (rattle a feed bucket) and shoot it!

It's not rocket science, it's that easy! [8D][:-]

Germ,

That's pretty similar to what I do... Except for I don't have a separate washer so I take the majority of my clothes to the bundle service.

I'd like to see you ride by one of your trail cams on your bike wearing your base layers in the dark... that could be good.

Some may think this is a big waste of time, but it's what I do.

Washing clothes I use sport wash, I have gound sport wash to be the best. I picked up a tip from someone here, I use my own washer. Only hunting clothes are washed in this washer.

Soap I use the Green soap I have used others, I have confidence in the green soap from HS.

After I shower, I spray down and dry off with one of my hunting towels, washed in my washer.
I than spray down, I like Scent Killer.
Brush my teeth in DDW tooth paste
I than put on sweats for the ride to my location. Sweats washed in my washer
I than get dressed at my location.

X-Scents Base layer Socks, pants, face mask
Scentlok suit(just the layer)

Spray DDW mouth spray in my mouth

I wear a pair of gloves and SL face mask as I walk or ride to my stand.

When I arrive, I change to my hunting gloves that are in my SL pack.
I remove the mask and put some scentfree face paint.

I keep a rag in a plastic bag, I wipe of my hands spray them down again. Put gloves back on.

Now I am ready

Some may think this is stupid, so what
Word to that Germ. Sounds like a solid plan to help eliminate some odor.

My own process is not to far off.

Sport wash -check
Shower with dial soap and what ever shampoo the wife has in there.
Get dressed drive to stand.
Stick wet finger in the air and go hunt the best stand for that wind direction.

Some people think this is stupid but who cares. It works for me.

1. Run Atsko and Baking Soda thru washer once empty.
2.Wash 4 towels and washcloths in Atsko and Baking Soda.
3. Wash all hunting clothing in Atsko and Baking Soda/hang dry outside.
4. Wash backpack in Atsko and Baking Soda/hang dry outside.
5. Spray down everything that was washed above with Dead Down wind. (Also spray down every piece of gear that goes into my backpack with same)
6. Shower with Green soap or Dead Down Wind soap.
7. Dry with clean treated towel.
8. Brush teeth with Baking soda/Peroxide toothpaste.
9. Dress in base layers of Scent Lok or X-Scent.(includes socks and underwear)
10. Spray down truck seats and headliner of truck with Dead Down Wind.
11. Drive to hunting area.
12. Unload ATV and drive to about 1/2 mile of stand.
13. Spray everything on me and all gear with Dead Down Wind.
14. Spray regular doe urine on bottom of boots or scent pads on bottom of boots.
15. Walk to stand.
16 Dress in everything but coat.
17. Climb up, finish dressing, including Scent Lok gloves and head gear.
18. Hunt.

All clothing not worn to hunting area stays in scent free bag until getting dressed.

I wonder sometimes, but I do it anyway. I will not hunt a stand this season unless the wind is right. No Exceptions!
