Yeah that actually is some kind of nylon curtain that came with the stand. I love the idea of being able to move my body around without being seen but i agree that it may be more hidden without it on. I'll see how it looks when season rolls around.

Hey dstubb.. don't take this the wrong way.. just giving you a little pointer.

I would certainly first start by ripping down that curtain.. right now.. even with all the foliage that treestand can be seen by me... and I'm in Illinois.

Even without the curtain that stands a little in the open.. but you may be able to get away with it.. thats your call.

As far as the ladder.. I think you are always best to hide it off any trail a deer may use.. that way the deer have less to smell. By leaving that ladder exposed to the whitetail you are just asking for a deer to come by and smell the bottom steps after you just climbed up or down. This being important even more so.. after you head home for the night.. and a monster walks by only to sniff your hands which inevitably touched the ladder.

Plus.. having your ladder stick out like that only screams for a thief to come by.. if one so desires.

Hide the ladder.. you'll sleep better.;)

I would get rid of that rail and netting. It will only cause you grief bowhunting out of it. Sooner or later your bottom cam is gonna wack it and throw your shot off. Or you won't even be able to get a shot off at a close deer.

I'm gonna lose the curtain and the shooting rail folds up and behind. As far as someone stealing it goes that it pretty far out of the question this farm is gated and the land owner has can easily see the stand from his house. Someone would have to be really stupid to try it. I also have some magnetic leafy vines that i will be putting on the ladder to better hide it. There really isn't any good options as far as trees go around that spot. I know for a fact that it is the spot to be and that really is the perfect tree to be in. I don't think that a whitetail is going to view the scent on my ladder any differently than the path i walk in on. I wear rubber boots that are kept scent free and i wear scent free gloves at all times. I think that once the curtain is gone it will be a pretty hard to spot.

do you plan on hunting it all season, it sticks out a little now, once the foliage begins to fall -- you will be a sore thumb

Alright guys thanks for the advice. I have many other stand locations and this is the first ladder stand that i have ever put up. It was so much work to get the damn thing up and i would sure hate to take it down after all of that. Who knows maybe i'll feel energetic one evening.
