Last night I was watching Animal Planet and the show I believe was "Raw and Uncut" There was a guy on there that has a 5 acre pen where he keeps deer to collect doe in estrus and buck pee. He also makes grunts and calls. Anyway, he grunts outside the pen for a while demonstrating what he sells and then goes inside with a cameraman. An 8 pointer charges him and nearly takes him out. Last thing I saw before my wife yelled at me to help her was the guy and the cameraman were inside the pen and the buck was on the outside.

Why do we have trouble getting trophy bucks? Because some of us do STUPID things like getting the buck all riled up and then disappointing them.

PS - When I say some of us, I am included in that bunch. I have screwed up a few times in my hunting live.

Are you talking about grunting and calling to immature bucks that we are not planning on harvesting and educating them?

All I was saying was whether it be coughing (happened to me last year), not being aware of your surroundings (had a buck bust me from behind), or getting a buck all hot and bothered and then walking into his turf, they're all stupid mistakes that keep us from taking that trophy and a crap load of meat home.
