the DR was obviously not an outdoors person. That is the incorrect way to remove ticks. You see the tick gets agitated and then vomits into your body........ thus increasing your chances of contracting any disease it was carrying.
Suck it up buttercup.......... grab them real quick with your fingers or tweezers and pull them out. Less chance of it regurgitating into your bloodstream. My wife hates therm and uses needle nose pliers so she doesn't have to touch them. Ill look for the link if y'all want.
This yr was the worst yr I have seen for ticks. In a 4hr period I would pick 100's of ticks off me. And for the next few days I would find them on me....... probabley from the inside of my car.
I take some steps to prevent them from getting in the house too. Get undressed outside and put your clothes in a garbage bag. DO NOT wash....... throw them in the tub filled with water. Once submerged these little buggers will try and get out. Take them out and kill them. then wash your clothes. The reason you don't wash your clothes is they will crawl out while your clothes are still in the wash and climb the wash barrel......... your wife/parents/roomates will be none too pleased

Ive heard of doing it with peanut butter. That way you get a nice treat afterwards and you get your blood back;):D[:'(]. I just rip them off with a tweezers, then torch them with a match.

My doc told me to use hairspray. It clogs up their breathing and they let go in a few minutes. I'm a scoutmastrer and had a dozen boy scouts come back from a hike with over 20 collectivley attached to them. The hairspray trick worked on all but one very stubborn tick

I just use FrontLine Plus on my neck once a month[8D]

NEVER USE PRESSURE while removing a tick, it will always cause the thick to spill it's contents ( salivy and other victim's blood ) into your body.
I use the O'tom tick twister.
it's an animal friendly way of removing the tick, hell, it even is friendly to the tick......
untill I burn it with a lighter.
this little gizmo goes with me on every hikeand it works, even with small ticks.
If the tick is in a "difficult to get at" kinda spot, I ask my girlfriend.

Well the consensus is it doesn't work. I use Peramone before entering tick habitat and never have pulled one off me while using that stuff. Seems prevention is the best method.

Bingo! In fact most of the reputable sites such as the Lyme Disease foundation and others only recc. phsically removing the beast. They are now saying that even if there are parts of the tick left in after removal that it should not pose any problems. I did a lot of research on this a few months ago when we had a major tick episode and found a ridiculous amount of home methods that don't work. Stick with just pulling the buggers out.
