you can also use your climber stand if you have one - lean the ladder stand against the tree and then climb up using your ladder stand to strap the ladder stand onto the tree. i used the atv winch too. if you don't give it some serious thought first you might spend all afternoon trying to get it setup right (believe me, i know!).

Yeah, i think i will use my climber like you said. I am new to the area and the only person i could get to go with me would be my girlfriend and that is almost pointless!

You might wanna try the E-Z Up Treestand Pulley System from PineRdge Archery Products to assets you in your attemp to do it yourself.

I have done it your way several times, I pack in my climber, set up the ladder and climb up with the climber. Gets me tighter on the ratchet it seems. Climb down and attach stabalizer.
