I currently use Nikon Monarch 10X42's....
Same but in 8X42's to stay bino qualified in 3D events. They are every bit as nice as my Brunton 10x50's and former Bushnell 12X50's.

Nikon Monarch 10x42s... I tried both the 8xs and the 10xs and didn't feel I was giving up anything that Jeff alluded to above (since I had the same concerns) and decided to take the little bit of extra magnification as a bonus.

I bought these last year and love them for under $200.
I had taken them on my Texas hunt and let one of the other guys in camp use them after I bagged my 8 pointer and he loved them.
Along with a few of the guys that had Swar, Leica and other big names
They are not high priced, pretty crisp and good to carry for the back pack

Germ, I've had my eye on the 8x30 but was concerned about low light gathering ability..... What is you take on the 8x30's?

I was "thinking" you had to hold steadier to keep a clear sight picture when you went up in magnification. I could be wrong. That's why (along witht he size factor) I went with the 8x's.

I know your all a bunch of rich guys, but I'd seriously look through some Alpen 8X42's. A buddy of mine has a pair of Swaro's and my Alpen's are every bit as clear.
