Default New Location?

I walked a new piece of land last night for possible hunting this fall. It is public land and close to home, 5 min. I found a very interesting spot and wanted to ask you guys about it. What I found was what looked like a drainage run. It runs from a high, flat, mostly grassy area down to a swamy area that continues to a lake. Now the lake a swamp is off limits, but the drainage area and the grassy area are all good. My question is this: Whould this be a good set up? The ditch is about 12 to 15 foot deep (no water). It is about 8 feet wide at the bottom and shows a decent amout of game traffic. At the end of the ditch I found very fressh deer scat. What my thoughts are this, hunt this from the edge of the ditch, above. What are your thoughts and with being this high already, do I need to put up a tree stand or should I just build a natural ground blind?

The deer probably use the ditch as a safe and easy travel route to get places. They are lowere than the rest of the ground so they feel safe. AS the pressure gets worse you may want to get as close to taht lake/swamp as you can. Im sure they use the drainage to get away from all the pressure. I would set up in a tree above the ditch to get your scent off the ground.

I've hunted almost the exact same set -up. The ditch runs from a small pond with about 5 yds of trees all around down hill to the back side of a pond damn and a creek bed from the run-off. The deer travel this ditchat all times ofthe day. I'd get up in the air if you can.
