I've always loved competition. I will competing along with friends that I will gain by being in the contest. It will change nothing for me this year in my attempts to shoot and kill my first mature buck. Has to be a nice buck for me to launch an arrow. The one thing I think the competition will do for me is get me to sit on stand longer so I can help the team out....and that in turn will help me out by increasing my odds.

It's not like there's a lot of money at stake or anything.....No, it doesn't change anything for me save the fact that I have more people to call now when I kill one.

Yep!

Its a great way to meet new folks and share your season and success with other hunters. Its a lot of fun and even though the team I was on finished dismally low last year... I made ten good new friends and had a ball reading about each of their hunts as they happened.

One of the best phone messages I have ever received was from Beagle,a teammate of mine last 2 years. He had just arrowed a terrific buck in Wisconsin and he left me an adrenaline filled message. However, he did not leave his name and we had never spoke before on the phone so I have no idea who had just given me a call. I thought it was Germ (they have similar accents), called him "back" to congratulate him, which he thought I was being a smartass b/c he hadn't gotten one.

No, I never did. Unless I didn't see it, but that is unlikely.

Just curious if anyone looks at hunting differently being in the contest than you would if you were not in it?
For the one year that I was in the contest (I was personally asked by a moderator) it didn't really change much. I didn't score on a buck that year. But I guess I also didn't check in often enough for my team mates. Too much crying and moaning going on for me. Come to find out later we have a member with a P&Y buck that never gave a measurment to the team. Everyone was OK with that.

That was it for me and the contest.
