If it wasn't bad enough with the cold spring, cool summer and a probably later pinto bean harvest dashing my chance of an elk hunting trip with Troy ( shed33 ) and Rybothis year... now they decided to open up the early goose season in mid August for residents. [:'(] Was bad enough they opened it the weekend of bow opener but now 15 days before. The pressure will wreck almost any hope of anearly season big boy.
We need the geese ( Canadian Honkers )thinned down as they are out of control and doing a lot of damageso it is for the greater good. It stillbites though !!! Good for nothing damn bigrats with wings!!! [&:]

Tim,
Man when it rains it pours. I hope those beans start growing so it doesn’t throw off the elk trip.
Huge bummer about the goose season too. That’s got to be frustrating. Round here they are nothing but big feathered rats too. Every so often in our parks they round up a bunch and off em. Feed the meat to the homeless people.

Best of luck with the beans Tim. Last year I was on the ND DNR website and I was amazed at all the P&Y and B&C bucks shot the 1st week of bow season last year. ND and SD have some great bucks to be taken. Good luck this fall.

TJF--once the gun season ends....study all the goose videos you can so that you can imitate their calls. Dress up in a giant goose suit (Kind of like the heater body suit) with your bow inside the suit.....waddle into the woods and open up like Rambo after you set all the deer/wildlife around the campfire and tell them about your wrongful persecution!
ps.....Instead of roasting marshmallows, just roast acorns with C'mere Deer on them or something for the deer.

Deer are generally smart enough to know when they aren't the ones being shot at, elk presumably are too. All that gunfire near the water is bound to funnel them in some direction...

That is a bummer! Hopefully the beans will cooperate with you so you can chase some wapiti. I want to see some pics of you boys behind some big Idaho elk!
Maybe you can figure out a way to use the early pressure to your advantage. I know that's a long shot, but you gotta try to be optimistic.
Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. Really apperciate it. Grabbed the wife and Britney tonight for our yearly scouting on the HILL. Big doe area with lots of fawns. Drop dead beautiful evening and great time. Life didn't seem to be so bad.
Can't do much about the beans but wait and see. Wewill definitely give the big boys heck come this fall. Already plotting/scheming to figure out what areas will see the least pressure. Might be able to shut off the goose hunters from invadingmy honey hole. Pretty much surrounded by soybeans and corn which they can't hunt.Has wheat on one side of it but it is the boss's. Tell him to post it to keep them off or I quit. If he does...great for bowhunting, if he doesn't... I'll have lots of time to elk hunt!! Win-win situation no matter how you look at it. I have a plan!!
