so i know other states have ar as well as missouri. my question is that if i remember right that one of the big qualms people have with it is that it prevents younger kids from killing thier first buck. but after reading missouri's regulations it states that the youth portions are not under theantler restrictions. are other states like this?

I'm not sure about other states. I didnt even realize Missouri's antler restrictions dont apply to youth seasons. I think that is awesome that they do that so kids can still harvest their first buck even if it doesnt meet the point requirements.

That is the way PA is. Most of PA's counties excluding the western ones are 3 points to a side vs the 4 points to one side in the west.

Youth hunters ares still allowed to take any buck.

The HUGE downside to this is (and I know it happens) Adult hunter shoot first, count second and use someones youth tag to tag the animal if at all. I honestly feel it should be the same across the board.

I agree Rob, but i think that these are the type of people that are going to do what they want regardless. Even if the anter restriction was the same across the board they would probably still shoot the animal, and just not tag it...

I know some counties in Texas have theAR but I don't believe that it is different for the youth (someone will correct me if I am wrong). One of the counties that I hunt in hasAR butthey do allow a deer with at least 1 antler that does not fork (spike), thats how my daughter got her first last year a long horn spike....

Yea your right hunsucker. They are gonna do whatever they want. and unless we see them there aint much we can do about it. I also am not sure about the new mentor program missouri has this year but hopefully it will work out

Arkansas has a 3 pt on one side rule ... Kids under 16 can take any buck as their first buck, then they are subject to A.R. .... But each year, Arkansas also has a youth hunt, the weekend before the regular gun opener for Arkansas, where they can take any deer, and have first shot at the bucks with Modern Gun. We at that time have already had Archery open for 6 weeks, and 1 st muzzleloading would have opened for about 8 days the third week of Oct. So folks have already stirred up the woods plenty good.

the new mentor program for missouri allows people over the age of 16 who has not taken the hunter education courseto buy a firearms deer permit for two consectutive years as long as they hunt with a licensed adult. The purpose of this program is try to get mopre people interested in hunting. after the two years they must take the hunter ed course to continue to hunt.

In AR , 16 and over you have to have the hunter ed. No 2 yr. grace period. Under 16 without hunter ed. you have to be with a licensed adult.
