For instance, I personally know of three P&Y class deer taken last year and none were entered.
I agree. I know there's allot more P&Y bucks shot in Canada then what gets entered. I think allot of there bucks go into a different book that they go by up there.

You left out South Carolina!:(

I always found stats to be meaningless really.
I guarantee people didn't start hunting Illinois because they were bored. They did because of the stats and percentages of big bucks. Stats can be very misleading but not so much for the big entry states. I believe states like ND and SD would have many, many more entries if people knew about there herd. I'm sure the guys who live out in them states are perfectly fine with that!;)

Those listed arenotfor theyear... Those entries are for the summer quarter.
Well dang, Scott....my numbers are ALL messed up, then.

I'll amend....

I stated, earlier (For NC).....

Your odds of connecting on a "book" buck would then be .00001
But if those figures were only for one quarter.......then I guess we can quadruple our odds!!!!

Look at'em, now!

Your odds of connecting on a "book" buck would then be .00004

I'm telling ya.....I've got my DVR set to record whenever the local news team breaks in with stories.....and all ten entries didn't dissapoint. Got 'em.

Funny thing is....I just found out Jesse Helms died about an hour ago.

The numbers would be so much higher though if you counted gun bucks. OUr odds in NC are so low because we have a little over a month of bow season and almost 3 of gun season [:@]. You would think that they would eventually learn from other states, but I guess that wont happen. IF only we could give out two buck tags a year, and keep the doe limits, along with some antler restrictions and a shortened (by alot) gun season, then our state would produce more.

Those numbers are still incorrect.....

You would need the number for the whole year divided by the number of hunters. Your formula is skewed.

Jeff, what are my odds in KY. 30 P&Y, we'll say 1/3 of the hunters bowhunt, which would be about 100,000.what are the numbers, stroke my ego, tell me how good I am.

Going by your formula....

300,000 Ohio archers divided by 90 entries= .0003

EDIT

You also added one to many zeros on the right side of your decimal point ;)

I tell ya what, then, Scott....

Since you've got the horn Bible and I don't......give me last year's figures. I think we're talking semantics, here. It's gonna be kinda puny......dontcha think (the final number)?
