I use a rope release, eliminates the need for a string loop.

Hafa, do you use this release for hunting also. If so, how quick can you get the release on and ready to shoot?

Just started using a string loop for the first time this past season. Really liked it and will continue, too.

I' m living proof that old dogs can learn new tricks. I went to a loop about 3 years ago.

Whats the advantage of a string loop over a regular metal D loop?

DaveC 03-04-2003 02:30 AM

RE: String Loop?

NBH, for one- there' s no clink when you connect your release.
For two- there' s no damn little screws to strip out and loose if they ever hit the floor. (try buying some around town)
For three- the string loop is more forgiving if you should torque your release when shooting.

The reason I know all these things is because my bow tackle box has 3 metal " d" loops bouncing around in the bottom of it. Once I figured out how amazingly simple the string loop was I switched all three of the bows I had rigged up at the time.

Whats the advantage of a string loop over a regular metal D loop?
about 5 FPS, less wear on your release and serving

Does the rope release get you any draw length back or is it just more fail proof?

hafa8pt 03-04-2003 08:24 AM

RE: String Loop?

Bobco, I use the rope release for hunting and have taken two bucks in three seasons. I can put it on in a matter of a split second without looking at the string, and any opportunities that I have had and lost has not been a release problem.

hafa8pt 03-04-2003 08:39 AM

RE: String Loop?

2drop, I don' t think there is any difference in draw length with a rope release compared to caliper. When I switched to a release from fingers the guy at the pro shop said the rope was easier on bow strings at 60# or more, back then it probably was true but today I don' t think the caliper release is detrimental to your string. I still shoot the Fletchmatic (better known as Flinchmatic). I have just stayed with it over the years.:)

RE: String Loop?

I don' t use one. What are the advantages besides string wear?

Bigpapascout 03-07-2003 02:36 PM

RE: String Loop?

1 Your release is directly behind the nock = Improved accuracy.

2 They are lighter than brass nock = more speed.
Increase of speed by puttin the release directly behind the arrow.

3 They eliminate nock pinch

4 Less serving wear

5 more forgiving if you have a tendancy to twist the release head.

any one is good enough reason to at least try one out IMO

schlich92 03-08-2003 02:22 PM

RE: String Loop?

I started this year with a loop and really like it. I have had a lot less wear on the serving string. I attached both loops below the nock with the metal/rubber holding crimp above.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don`t.

Does shooting a loop make your bow more accurate? Maybe, but there has been many a perfect target rounds shot before and since the string loop.

krisken, why would using a loop cost you 10 fps?

I can tell you now, that set up properly, a loop does not slow you down at all. Nor will it speed you up.
