RE: Standards. Do they change season to season?
I don't know any "horn porn loving hunters", the mature buck hunters that I know seem to enjoy all aspects of deer hunting. The fact is, the ones I know only care about what they shoot. They are also quick to congratulate any hunter that gets a deer no matter what it is, as long as it makes them happy. I have (successfully), and will again some day. It will not change my standards. I have enough faith in my hunting abilities that I think I can still get close enough to the deer I'm after no matter what weapon I'm using. However, being an elitist in that you are challenging yourself to do more is much different than being an elitist so that you can look down on those that don't do things as you do. I've hunted with compounds, crossbows, longbows and recurves, rifles and muzzleloaders and shotguns and handguns all in deer seasons. I think I'm pretty well rounded, and you? I've been there and done that, I'm not a pup when it comes to hunting I assure you. It's called humility. You should try it sometime. It's a hobby folks. Schultzy so you're not an elitist ? Want to talk about crossbows ? How about a 1 season, you choose your weapon? How about POD's? How about baiting bear, deer etc? Running dogs? If you're not an elitist, you would truly not care how people legally harvested game. Am I right ? shed33you're honest, I respect that I don't soley hunt trad, I've got a Q2, I'm hutning with a muzz this fall and likely a rifle too. I DO however understand the difference that weapons make. Big Duane is happy to get any deer as long as he is doing it with his traditional gear. |
RE: Standards. Do they change season to season?
This thread has turned into an interesting one for me. I see it as progression in two different directions. Neither direction is wrong but both are different.
GregH/Shed: Hunted for years, increased challenge by hunting exclusively for mature whitetails while using compound bows. Success.............respect. Big Duane/Shultzy: hunted for years, took up traditional equiptment for the challenge and became successful with lesser equiptment............Respect. Neither are wrong and both ways are commendable............RESPECT fellas! I always seen myself taking the traditional route......................... someday.......;). |

RE: Standards. Do they change season to season?
Everyone knows I'm not a fan of crossbows!! Big deal, its the way I am and its just my opinion. Each to there own! Thats pretty simple Big D. My recurve, its my style of hunting. Easy decision!! What about baiting bear? Its a must where I bear hunt!! I don't run dogs, I don't care for it, its not my style of hunting. Its illegal in Minnesota anyway. Whats your point Big D?? my point, few of us are NOT elitists |
RE: Standards. Do they change season to season?
Big Duane, I don't know what your agenda is, but the end game is obviously to pick a fight. It's been that way since your first post. Since then you'vetried to start arguments with myself, Rybo, Greg, and now Schultzy. All guys that I like and respect. At first it was cute and entertaining, now I've grown tired of you.
So please, with all due respect, contribute to the discussion about why you choose to hold the standards that you do with your brand of hunting or go start your own thread about elitism, shooting small bucks, baiting, crossbows, traditional gear, single seasons of whatever weapon,or whatever the hell else you want to argue about, but do us a favor and stop hijacking this thread. ![]() |
