Default EHD????

Went out to check the trail cam and found this dead doe. She wasn't laying their yesterday and there were no visible wounds or bullet holes in her. What do you think happened to her? Do you think i ought to call the Pennsylvania Game Comission to see if they will test her to see what killed her?

If you find another I would. Maybe just call them an ask them if they have had any others reports in your area.

Ray, i wouldnt worry to much right now. EHD usually hits when your having a very very hot dry/drought summer and were really not there yet. Usually the dead are found in or beside a water source. They get high fever and seek water to cool and its usually where they meet there demise. We went through it last summer and found alot, and 90% of the time they were in water or laying beside it. If you find bucks dead in velvet or just dead deer period innumbers, then its time to get worried. I could actually drive around in the country and smell the dead ones all over. Mother nature at her worst.

It starts with an insect called a Midge that thrive when those conditions occur, they infect the deer with a bite.
