RE: Drury boys ok with me...
ORIGINAL: Justin I think it's rather unfair to label guys like Mark and Terry Drury who have undoubtedly worked their asses off for close to 20 years for what they have as hunters who don't have to work hard for their trophies, or guys that push their beliefs and products in your face. They would not be nearly as successful or respected in this industry if weren't very good at what they do. And that's working hard to kill big bucks and produce top quality videos and TV shows. |
RE: Drury boys ok with me...
My favorite is Roger Raglin....anyone watch him?

RE: Drury boys ok with me...
I get that they are good hunters, but theproperty they hunt makes a hugedifference. I'm not going to say that the deer are like "shooting cows"; however, it's a far cry from what most people have the opportunity to hunt. I can only speak from my own experiences: I was blessed to have the opportunity to hunt a small 80 acre lease in Pike County Ill two years ago. I don't know how well it was "managed", but I did see more good bucks in 5 days than I have in 10 years back in PA. The place seemed like a zoo at times compared to some places I've hunted in PA. (Can't hunt that property any more because Hadley Creek bought it all [:@]). Now, I'm not trying to take anything away from them, but you don't have to be an "pro" to kill deer on that kind of property. A buddy of mine and his father still go out every year and consistently kill deer over 130 inches and these guys are far from serious hunters. He killed a 10pt that went well over 150 last year. I personally don't care for the Drury bros because: 1) They come off to me as beingvery arrogant. B) They will say or do almost anything to sell a product 4) Anyone who supports Hadley Creek can go to he!! |
RE: Drury boys ok with me...
I also think the Drury Videos are second too none. I used to be a big time Monster Buck fan, but they have gotten way too many gun hunts in their Dvd's (my own opinion). I prefer watching bow hunts. Itoo have had enough of all the product pushing from all of them. It's a wonder anybody ever gets a Deer anymore.

Even though I like watching the videos, I think they go a little overboard on the general acting skills. jmho

RE: Drury boys ok with me...
The Drury boys are hunters just like us. They started off with some turkey calls and became better at marketing than anyone else out there. They had the balls to go into the video end of the buisness and made them marketable also. Then moved on to TVto do a show. They are innovators in the hunting industry and I applaud them for it.
I did not say I agree with everything they do or say, just that they are out there doing and leading not following. I hope that all of you have a chance to meet them and thank them for all they have done to promote hunting in this country. Without people like them we are destined to overun by the likes of Peta and other groups. By the way I do not own any of their videos. |
RE: Drury boys ok with me...
Justin, I agree 100%. Now, for the comments about hunting good property... Yes, it helps a lot noone is going to excuse that, but, deer still have their senses and they use them no matter where they are. It was like that time a few months ago when a few people on here got all bent out of shape about location....blah... Some people on here I felt dimissed GregH and his accomplishments b/c he hunts prime land. Well, I said it then, yeh, I think Greg will certainly tell you that he has some great property, but that is the point. I mean, yo don't go looking for a 15 lb largemouth in Minn do you??? No, you don't, why?? B/c they don't live there. So, if the Drury boys are making it happen on their own farms and other farms then I can't dismiss them. As far as promotional stuff, so what....they got to pay bills and you ain't gotta buy it..

RE: Drury boys ok with me...
I agree 100% that deer are still deer and have their "senses". I'm not hating on them becasue of the property they hunt. A little jealous--perhaps.
I'm just saying that it's a huge advantage, and killing big bucks on that property doesn't make someone an expert. Furthermore, don't be arrogant about it. Sorry Justin, but I also have to disagree with you relatingthe drury bros to sports playersas well. I'm not trying to take anything away from Mark's daughter, but the fact that she can be successful says a lot. Let anyone on here sit in a stand on one of their farms for a couple weeks and they would most likely score on a good buck. I don't think any of us would stand a chance on a football field, baseball field or on a golf course against the best--Tiger's children inlcuded (ifhe has any). All of those sports come down to physical ability, the environment really doesn't play a factor. As far as marketing and making $, the Drury's are doing a fine job--I'll give them that any day.. |
