RE: decoy question
Generally does will avoid bucks.
I really enjoyed putting my McKensey target out with 1 antler in it. I had a small 8 point give me one heck of a show for about 20 minutes! That has been the only time I have used a decoy. My neighbor has good luck with a doe decoy he has used for years. The bucks will generally come to check her out.

RE: decoy question
It just depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I wouldn't leave some large rack on the decoy just because some bucks just aren't big fighters. Supposedly a half-racked buck is the optimum as far as buck decoys go because it isn't very impressive looking and they will feel confident that they can kick his butt (at least that is the theory). A doe decoy has obvious advantages during the rut.
I chose the half-racked set up just because I wanted a show, and I have to admit it was a lot of fun to see that little buck swell himself up and strut around.
