How many of you all refuse to sit while hunting?
 

Hey all,
Just wondering whether you sit or stand while hunting, and if you have any concrete reasoning behind it.

I personally sit because I am wayyyyyyy to finicky to just stand there leaning against a tree without being seen. Sometimes during the peak sunsetting peroid I'll stand for 30 minutes or so, but even then, especially in the cold I start to move a lot.

I stand 99% of the time on stand. When it hurts bad enough I sit briefly. I just want to be up and ready if the buck of a lifetime comes in from an odd angle.

I wish I could stand, more.....I just can't or don't.

I've thought this through, though....and realize I move WAY less when I sit. Standing....I'm constantly shifting weight from one leg to the other. I've not had an instance where I saw a deer I wanted to take.....but was relegated to sit still or be busted.

I know......it'll happen....but 'til then....I'm all about my comfort.....and I feel that may keep me on stand, longer.

I sit until my back hurts. Then I stand until it starts hurting again, then I sit. etc etc

Typically I am more still when I sit.

I sit 95% of the time. I usually only stand up to stretch. I'll sometimes stand to takecertain shots as well. Like someone said, when sitting I'm able to go without moving much at all.

It's hard to sleep while standing, I just need a battery pack for my c-pap machine so I can stopsnoring on stand.

I sit until I see deer movement, I wish I could stand, but due to back surgury a few years ago I just can't do it more than 15 minutes straight.

I feel for you! Ive had two levels fused in lower back. Dr told me I was nuts for climbing trees and walking so much during season. I told him obviously he wasnt a hunter!

This is what usually happens to me when I sit too long anyway.

I sit, and stand only to stretch my back and legs. I even take many of my shots while sitting, but not always.

i always sit when i hunt its alot more enjoyable to sit and alot easier. and i havent been busted yet while trying to stand to get a shot at a deer(knock on wood).lol.

the way I hunt Is an all day thing. from before sun up to after sun set. I don't think my legs would be too happy about me standing all day all weekend[8D]

I sit 75% of the time i just stand to give my back and legs some circulation. then back to sitting . I move less sitting

x2 I stand as much as I can. I may sit for 5 minute spells to ease the pain or get ready for the homestretch.

I tend to put a lot of hours in. I sit and stand. I don't try to be ready at all times as much as I try to be relaxed.

Relaxed and ready to engage autopilot kill mode.

I sit 90% of the time as well as shoot from a seated position.I will usually position my stands so I can sit and take most shots.Every once and a while I will stand but only if my legs need to be stretched orI need to to get a shot that I HAVE to stand for.

I stand 95% of the time. Only sit to take a slight break off the feet

Anything can happen at any time so always be ready

Those of you who think it's tough to stand up for several hours at time really ought to try standing for 8+ hours ata time, wearing heels and nylons. It makes the treestand thing easy.

I have flat feet so standing for long periods just is too uncomfortable. So I generally sit most of the time until “peak times” (daybreak, half an hour before sunset, when I hear what I think is a deer someplace where I can stand up without getting busted), then I stand, if I can do it without any danger (I know of) of getting busted. I sometimes shoot seated, if I have to, but it limits the shots I can take.

Combo, sit/stand usually stand the first half hour in the am and the last half hour in the pm

This is what I do as well,I'm right handed so I try to setup my stand in a position where the shot will be on my left or in front,I only stand to strech or if I have a shot that I can't take while sitting.

Don't know why but I sit all day until the last 2 hours and I stand, no reason, that's what I do. I'll intermittenly stand just to stretch, sit for the most part.

Im a sitter, for me hunting is enjoyable and it would be torture for me to stand for that long. Not out there to torture myself!:D

I always sit....and most oftenly kill sitting down...On occasion I'll stand during last light if I hear something behind me...in attempt to make a final shot in the last few minutes of the hunt....

I stand 75% of the time and would stand all of the time if I wasn't a wimp. When sitting, there are too many times that a deer comes in from the opposite side of where I am expecting, and it makes to much noise/movement to shift around as compared to when I am simpling standing and leaning against the tree.

I also feel like I make less noise/movement while standing when I need to lturn my headmore than 180 degrees looking for incoming deer, which is the case from most of my stands.

I'l sit most of the time and when my behind start to hurt too much I'll stand for a while then sit down again. I prefer sitting over standing.

I like to alternate between the two. Especailly early season when the deer dont move as much Ill sit for 30 minutes and then stand for 3 minutes, this allows me to stretch and keep the muscles more relaxed.

I sit as much as possible. Like some others have stated I set my stand so I can shoot from the seated position. I stand to get the blood flowing

I sit 95% of the time. I am much less fidgety when I'm sitting down. I do stand sometimes to stretch or when my a$$ starts to bother me. I just shift from leg to leg when I stand. Now I have back problems and just had L5 disc surgery in January 08, so I'll do what's most comfortable...probably sitting!

I probably stand 50% of the time. I usually stand up when I hear something or am just hoping something is going to come. Kinda just wishful thinking ;)

Sit most of the time, prefer to shoot sitting down, more steady that way if my knees start knocking :eek:
