Interesting....its 50/50

I love my guns too...I relax and chill during gun...its my time to relax from the mind boggling, hard work of the bowseason....I like to watch the doe(s) during the late season...and keep my smoker warm..

I picked thrilled, but now Im not so sure.

It would be a good thing here because all the cuz all the buck-toothed, tabacco spttin', flannel shirt wearin' hillbillies with their 30 year old 30-06s would be way to lazt to bowhunt. Trust me. And that would in turn provide me with more hunting land and less pressure around me.

BUT I do like to gun hunt. And it is a tradition here. As much as I love bowhunting (I love it waymore than gun hunting) I cant really imagine going through a seasonwithout it.

Its really sort of a toss up for me......

I wouldn't exactly say I would be "thrilled" simply because I have a few family members that I enjoy muzzleloader hunting with but man I'd love to see one of IL's most noted trophy producing counties on a bow-only policy...... just to see what caliber of bucks we could produce then! [:-]

It amazes me how blind some seem to be.

I honestly think that horn porn is going to be the death of hunting.Just look on this site............we have "hunters" advocating to ban gun hunting so that Bucks grow bigger and it will be EASIER to kill on with a bow!!!!!!

If it's any indication where the hunting community lies right now, we are in big tropuble in the very short future folks. The horn facination is only getting worse and with the younger generation knowing nothing else it's not going to get any better anytiome soon.

Think about it....some are advocating taking away from other hunters so they might kill a bigger deer with a bow! How moronic is that???

I know we are on a bow only forum, but the responses are shocking to me!

I would be totally pissed if my county was designated as bow-only.

I would be thrilled if my county was designated as a bow-only area.

GUS....I'm just pointing out that nowhere in the poll was their an advocation for banning gun hunting everywhere......or even advocating banning it in your county (although that would be the de-facto outcome). It simply asked if you would be totally pissed or totall thrilled if it happened.

In counties where it HAS been designated bow-only.....are the folks who hunt there "anti-gun"? Are they part of the problem? Should they be proponents advocating for gun seasons to open in those counties?

Just trying to be fair.

I would be thrilled, but not necessarily because of how it would affect my hunting (it would vastly improve it). I would be thrilled because I live in an area that is very highly populated and the tracts of huntable property are very segmented and small. Finding property of 100 acres or more to hunt is very difficult because everything is so broken up by subdivisions and housing. Because of this hunting safely is very difficult. As it is the county I live in is shotgun only, but that is not enough. There are too many houses in all directions for hunters here to be adequately safe. Especially considering that much of the gun hunting is done through drives.

When I do gun hunt in my countyI position my stand or blind on a ridge facing down into the hillside and always limit my shots to having a hillside as a back drop or shooting into the valley at a downward angle. Deer on the crest of the ridge get a free pass. Unfortunately not all hunters take the same care, which is why I would be happy if it was bow only.

I hear ya. All of the bowhunters I know wear gucciflauge, have perfect teeth and brand new equipment. That makes them superior human beings by default.

Elitism at its worst right there folks.

Nowhere in the poll...............but the responses from "some" said and indicated a ban would be just fine with them.......for the sake of better bowhunting.

no they are not here where I live.

Are they part of the problem? Should they be proponents advocating for gun seasons to open in those counties?
There is really no problem. They (that live in Bowonlycounties)travel to other counties to gun hunt and bow huntthebig boys at home. This is one reason we have a camp north of us.
