I had not heard that but last year a local area dealer did tell me he was dropping API stands because of complaints and defects.

I looked at some API stands at the Harrisburg show. I always thought that they were good stands, but after seeing the quality of the welds on them, you couldn' t pay me to get up in one. I weld aluminum everyday, and without a doubt these were the worst welds that I have ever seen on anything. I' ve seen people with no welding experience put out better welds than this. It wouldn' t bother me so much if is wasn' t for the safety factor. I' ve looked at API in the past and they were never like this before. Cutting corners, I guess. If you own a new one, please be carefull and inspect them thoroughly.

Outland Sports, the company that owns API, has filed for bankruptcy. Read into that as much or as little as you like.

IMO, the biggest thing to fear is the quality of the welds, as mentioned by Trebark. Get a Summit and feel secure.:)

pdq 5oh,
The welds on the Summits looked great. My Bigshot has 210 inches of quality weld on it, as well. I don' t know about the new Loggy' s, but my old one was only tacked together, very few solid welds. Made me a little nervous.

Mad, Lohman, Featherflex, API and a couple others. They bought to many companies and paid to much for them to fast I guess.[:' (] When the company was owned and ran by Paul Meeks they were great products. I have one that' s several years old and is still great. No problems with welds or anything and I' m almost up to the max weight.[:' (]
