I agree with the as tight to bedding area's as you can comfortably get without bumping them in the early season. Also hunting those area's in the afternoons.

I really like hunting whitetails during theeveningsin Sept and early Oct. They are often still following their summer patterns.

Here is my best buck to date taken Oct. 4. He was running with another buck that was close to the same size and also in bow range. I had seen both of them a few times during the summer in the same alfalfa field.

Early October...

That is a brown donkey with horns. I hope you have a lot of friends to help drag that mule out of the woods! Good Lord! Nice set of pictures!

I agree in the early season bucks return home under dark skys. I also hunt afternoons at staging areas knowing it will be mostlikely be right around last shooting light when I see him. From the last week in Oct. on thru november though I hit the mornings hard.
While I agree with this for the most part... early season morning hunts (September ) depending on how far the buck travels fromhisfeedingarea to hisbedding area can produce. I won't huntreal close to the bedding area though so I can get out undetected if he does come backbefore light.PM huntsare always best though in early season through the 3rd week of October.
