RE: Best fletching color for hunting

I used all white for a long time, and it works well. I used two white hen feathers and a white barred as my index feather. Its not bad, but it can be tricky in direct sunlight. I don't hunt in the snow, but white would of course be an issue there.

I recently (very recently) went back to using vanes (blazers to be exact) due to the high cost of feathers, and high maintenence of them (I'm hard on them). I think back to the pre-feather days, and I could always see neon green/yellow the best in flight right at dark. Some type of chartreuse you know... or even a very light/bright orange. The blazers only havetwovane colors that I think are very visable in low light.... yellow and pink. Honestly, I think that pink would work about as good as anything, so long as you can get over the vanity of shooting a pink fletched arrow (I'm not there yet).

I always subscribe to the brighter the better thusly so you can possibly see the arrow in flight, on impact and through the animal giving you better insight for hit location not to mention the ease of finding the arrow after the shot for analysis. (sp).

I use either 2 white and 1 flo yellow or 2 flo yellow and 1 flo orange. (mostly).

Its like you took the words out of my mouth Rob!! The only thing I would add to that is a white wrap!!

White and pink do show up well as do white and blue. Flo green is good, but can get lost in the fall leaves as does pink and white. Blue is always good. Although, after a while you realize all you have to do is follow the blood. I don't care what color your arrows are.
