Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
currently shooting a 2003 Bowtech Mighty Might. I love the bow, it's been great. However, with all the new technology am considering ungrading. New PSE XForce seems nice.
That said, if you could have any new bow what would it be and why? |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I would personally buy the new Mathews DXT or one of the new Bowtech's if I was in the market for a new bow. Having said that, I would go and shoot them all... You will find one that you know is the right bow for you.
They are all great bows these days. I am still madly in love w/ my Mathews Switchback XT... So it will be a couple of years before I even start to look again. Good luck. |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I have my eye on a Marriah Chinook made by Ric Anderson, sweet looking longbow with Elk antler overlays and accents around the shelf as well as tips! Simply a work of art! I have wanted a Bow made just for me and thats one of a kind and this will be it! I will be ordering one over the summer, probably take at least a few months to get but well worth the wait!:)

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Hoyt Katera, smooth draw and accurate shooter. The Ally and Guardian by bowtech are sweet to and the DXT was nice from Matthews. The PSE wasn't my cup of tea.

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Best thing to do is go shoot every different bow you can get your hands on and see what fits you best. I love my new Hoyt Katera XL but I shot Hoyt, Bowtech, Mathews, PSE, Bear, and many others and found that the Hoyt was my favorite. Of course I am a little bias and also am a Hoyt dealer because of it. After working on every brand bow imaginable, I honestly believe that Hoyt is the toughest on the market. Bowtech seems to be one of the smoothest.

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
i would go with the bow i have now, a truth 2, thats why i got it. it was my favorite out of all of the bows i shot:)

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
It would help to hear a little more about your hunting plans and draw weight/length. Ultimately, it will be most helpful for you to shoot as many of the competing bows as possible. You can do this through your local shop or other bow owners if you're thinking about buying a used bow:
Buying used bow: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2866392 Whatever your plans, I would act soon because in a few weeks, the shops will be more crowded with the upcoming season. |

I'm shooting PSE.
Shark X-3D/Spots Mossy Oak X-3D/Hunting |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
when I find something otherthan the guardian thats got at least the same speed, smooth shooting, no hand shock I will buy it but there isnt one on the market yet, My guardian shoots faster than my buddys dren at less draw weight and a shorter draw length. And the guardian is a million time quiter.

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I bought the 2008 gto from elite..I really like it so far..but there are several nice bows that came out this year..I always like a bow in the 32/34 ata, 7/8 brace height,3.5-4lbs and a nice smooth draw..those specs seem to fit me well. All thebig brands and some of the small brands have really nice bows these days.

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I bought a PSEX Force. I'm selling my Katera XL and buying a 2nd X Force. It's smokin fast and I shoot it well.;)

If you are looking for a Speed Bow you owe it to yourself to shoot the BowTech Airborne 82 and the 101, also don't overlook the Allegiance arguably one of if not the best Hunting Bow made to date.
I've shot them all and you should too before you buy. Dan |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
What is the total length of the X-force?
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Right now it would be the one I am shooting. I am not rich by any means, but I have always found a way of getting what I want. Last year, I had a Bowtech Commander, loved it. I then made switch to my dominant eye and got rid of it. I wanted more speed, just to see what it was all about and I bought a LH 101st. The reason's that I love it....great speed, tack driving accuracy, and a solid back wall. I would recomend the Commander to anyone though and I may end up adding a LH one to my arsonal.

With all these Bowtech CEO's on here you may want to take them with a big grain of salt.[8D]
![]() J/k, ask 100 people and you'll likely get 100 different responses. Shoot them all, pick what you like. Good luck with yoursearch. |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Last year I had the choice of any bow that I wanted, and I chose my Hoyt Vectrix XL. This was becauseI liked the speed, smoothness, and nice draw cycle. Not to mention it'sa Hoyt. Oh, I already said that.;):D

RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Mathews DXT or Hoyt Katera
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I am going to wait and see what Bowtech/Diamond comes out with for 2009 although I would like their bows to be closer to advertised IBO speeds! I shot my BI side by side to a Matthews Drenalin the other day and his was A LOT faster and flatter!
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
just plan on deer hunting with it. I have a 29" draw and pull back 70#. I'd like something FAST, but don't want to trade off the other goodies...... brace height, short A-A, etc.
like I said, I love my mighy mite and shot it well. |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I've thought about getting a new bow in the future, but to be honest, I am so happy w/my 06 Tribute, I can't see myself getting a new bow to replace it.
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I think I'd get a 60# version of the bow I already have (HCA Iron Mace).... or a bowtech alligence or perhaps a Hoyt Ultra 38.
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I listened to a lot of veteran bowhunters, and they advised to shoot all different kinds of bows. I picked the mathews, not because of the name, but because I liked they way it felt to me. I started on a used Golden Eagle, so you could imagine it was like, sort of like driving a ferrari after having a pinto.
|
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I think the DXT because it's so short, fast and smooth. I bow hunt out of a box blind that I have a tough time w/ my 34" q2.
The DXT is the one I thought I would get and it's what I ended up buying. I gave Bowtech there fair shot but I loved the DXT. Another reason I went with the DXT was I have a bad shoulder and it just seemed easier on my shoulder (all at the same poundage of course). That said, I really liked shooting the Guardian, it's a really nice bow. |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
Typically with bows you have to trade one thing for another.. A hunting bow, you may not want speed over forgivness or ability to shoot a good broadhead.
With that said I've been looking and shooting alot myself. I like the Dxt but really like the General. That's saying alot for me cuz I'm a hardcore mathews guy but the general was probably the smoothest bow I've ever shot. Only reason I have not bought it was because the string suppressor gets in the way of using a kisser button which I like to use.. |
RE: Which New Bow Would You Pick And Why?
I have considered giving up my Hoyt in 2009 for a DXT...But I love my Hoyt!

What the fix? It diddn't seem to matter if I turned it up or down it was in the way. I mean one could take the factory string suppressor off and mount one lower on the bow..
I was hoping Bowtech would fix it this year... ORIGINAL: MeanV2 ORIGINAL: demoIL Typically with bows you have to trade one thing for another..
