Bowhunters
#2
Maybe, and this is pure speculation,
That true bowhunters hold themselves at a higher level of excellence in hunting... true hunting.... than many "hunters" cannot relate to.
Bowhunting used to be the cream of the crop.
The guys who didn't deal in Yards, but feet
The guys who actually hunted deer like our founding fathers did...
The guys that knew they'd kill a deer worthy of bragging, whether it was a spike or a 14 point, it was your deer.
Not some punk, who embraces the technology of hunting, and acts like a bowhunter, but really doesn't have a clue as to the true nature of a hunt.
I'm a jerk....
And its because I think I'm the best... I hunt with a really piss poor attitude, and I perform at a level that ensures that not only wil I kill a deer, I'll do it in a way that makes other men wish they could accomplish.
I am the cream of the crop...
I am a god darn bowhunter

Why are some of these the most snotty, uppity acting, jerks in the world?
Is it just because every sport has to have some?
Am I missing something?

LT, I know what you are saying, some are this way b/c they have been successful others are far from successful and use this attitude of elitism to try and put themselves at a level that they are not actually at as a bowhunter........ huh???

You know, as humbling as this sport "can" be, why would you want to ever develop that kind of attitude. I mean, one day, you will eat tag soup. One day you will miss. One day you will get busted. So why go and get a bad case of the big-head over being a "little" successful? Or for that matter, being more successful than some others. There will always be someone in life that succeeds more than you.

There are idiots in all walks of life. What I find most irritating, is when the arguing breaks out over who uses what, and why it's the ONLY way to go [:@]. Threads that most would find informative become absolutely worthless to all who take the time to read them.
What burns me even more, is when the fighting is amongst those guys(or kids
)who have the "really awsome" gear and ZEROmeat in the freezer. I think it's great that you "robin-hooded" a half dozen maximas in your back yard last night at 55 yards and have the picsto prove it!![8D]
I'm not going to name names, but I have seen a kid/young man on here who considers himself an actual authority on white tail deer hunting, and isallegedly a member of 2 or3 "pro staffs", with his own web site or something. The kid has like, 3 deer killsunder his belt [:'(]. . .are you kidding me??? In 12 years of "bow" hunting [:-], you're really going to give me lectures on deer habitat, food plot strategy, wind, temps, thermals...etc, when your career credentialsequates to what is a typicalSeptember for me? GET FREAKING REAL KIDDO
I know that everyone has a right to post their 2 cents on any given thread, but if you don't have something constructive to add, it's ok to just read! Nobody really cares what your post count is. I come to this place, not for a popularity contest, but to gain insight and knowledge from others who thinkand live a life style similar to mine.
Sometimes, the real info gets lost in a sea of BS, and it takes a great deal of patience to sift through it all to find that "gem" of real information thatmight justmake you a better hunter.I, for one, most definitely hope the tide changes as the seasonapproaches.
Um, in other words. . . Great post LT! I feel your pain man

great response joshw020!! I understand exactly what you are saying. I mean I have found out a lot about certain people here after talking to them. Just when you think a guy has all the experience and kills under his belt, he ends up with only 1 or 2 or even none. That does not mean they can't add something, but they don't need to be the alfa and omega either. In other words, "life member" means squat. does not mean that they are gurus!! Several people here in the fawn/forkhorn status are far more experienced than somelife members here. I don't know it all and I will say so when I don't, but I will take my 20 yrs and over 70 whitetail kills experience before I take advice from certain people on this forum.

You know what an expert is don't you?

I've bowhunted 40 years and there are very few absolutes in Bowhunting. I learn something from the Game I hunt every year.
If I didn't I would tend to think I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Yeah....but it goes both ways.
You also don't want the guy who's zebco 202 backlashed on him in 1971.......telling you to forego spinning reels, because they're junk......opting instead for the cane pole.
This thread is exactly what the king wrote about the other day......if you can look past the OVERtone of that statment and into the underlying.
