RE: Hunting with friends or family
My older brother and I are hunting buddies--been hunting together for well over 30yrs(except for the years he was in the military). He's not only my older brother--he's my mentor and best friend

RE: Hunting with friends or family
While I do enjoy SOME hunting with others and have taken and helped a new bowhunter each of the last two seasons and already have a sixteen year old friend of my sons lined up for this season, I have to say that day in and day out, I prefer to hunt by myself.
Maybe it is because I am constantly in contact with others in my work that I enjoy the solitude and peace of being by myself and not having to worry about anyone else. Having said that, over a course of a 90 day whitetail season in which I am fortunate enough to usually hunt around 30-40 of those days, I'd say I take someone with me about 25%-35% of the time. I always elk hunt with a good friend for about 7-10 days, but I also always make one long weekend (3 or 4 days of hunting)elk/mule deer hunt in Colorado by myself and a satellite telephone for safety. This is usually the highlight of my hunting season each year even though I've only bagged one animal over the years while doing so. |
RE: Hunting with friends or family
I love hunting with family and friends. If it was not for my family I would not have started hunting at all.
