Terry, I feel bad for your Dad. I hope hemends as quickly as possible. I know it's easy to say, but a good attitude is so important, for both of you. Good luck, and tell your Dad we're all thinking of him.

I just want to assure you that with what you are going through is natural. Just keep things in perspective and you'll be fine with the decisions you make.

like others have said it'll come to you. Just think of the rush you've gotten from year's past.

I'm praying for you and your dad

Well, this year I got my motivation in May from a scouting trip to Illinois.

I'm a little different in that so far I haven't had difficulty getting motivated. I did at first when my son bacame a Marine and my main hunting partner was temporarily gone. I guess I see it now as keeping the 'flame' alive in anticipation of him being able to hunt with me again one day. You need something to hope for, so hope foryour Dad'sfuture hunting companionship like I do for my son's! That might just work in your situation!

I wish you and your Dad the best!!!

Thanks for the support guys. It means alot to me (and my Dad).

I think I'll fling some arrows this weekend just to see how it feels.

Today I went for a ride on the four-wheelerbehind my Dads property with the old man. He was showing me the food plots we put in last month. He waspretty excited about hownicelyhis property is looking. He was also talking about a nice buck in velvet he's been seeing entering his woods in the morning.

I think everything will be just fine once he gets past this amputation andgets his prosthetic leg. Eventually the doc says he should be able to doall ofthe things he could do before the accident like walk, hunt, fish, ride a bike, etc. He asked the doctor is he'd be able to play hockey again. The doc said "It's possible". My dad said, "That would beGREAT, because I haven't been able to do that in 30 years!". :D At least the old man still has his sense of humor.

gzg, im sure you will get your spirit back, just reminisce on some good times that you have spent hunting and technology is way advanced now and once your father has a prosthesis, im sure he will be able to get out there almost as easily as b4, as an ending note, convince your father to go out hunting, last year my dad was attacked by a bull mastiff and had is thumb ripped halfway off, it tore thru tendons and everything. the doctor said my dad would never bowhunt again but a few months later, on november 9, my dad went out bowhunting for the first time and shot a boone and crockett buck, then the next morning was opening day of rifle season and my dad again shot a boone and crockett, then 3 weeks later my dad shot a 160 inch 8 point with his bow, im sure thisstory might give your dad a little boost

good luck!

Sorry to hear about your Dad!! Things could be worse, and don't worry about your drive if it is inside you it will come back out.

I usually get pumped just before Rut!;)

What gets me into hunting mode is watching hunting tv shows.

Once season ended this past year I watched a hunting tv show later in the day and I was ready for next year and already making plans.

Today I was watching The wild outdoors and I watch them take abig buck and the terrain they were in was just like at my gpa's farm and I was thinking of a next place to set my stand, and I think it will work much better.

I can't wait for season to start.
