Default Holding out for one buck..........

I have yet to get down to my huntin land this year (too much work to do). However I absolutely cant wait to see if the buck I hunted is gonna be around to show his face this year. I am focused on this guy even tho he may not be the biggest around. I just love the character of his rack. Here is the first pic I ever got of him, its also one of my favorite pics. His brows earned him the nickname "ol' Diablo"

The last time I singled out a buck. I had a shocking surprise while checking my cameras. Some of you veterans might remember my post about finding him dead wedged between two trees.I was using the name "antlergetter" back then. Here is one of the many pics I took.

Anybody else have stories of watching one particular buck???

Here is another angle of the buck I found dead after hunting him for 2 years. I was both shocked and saddened all at the same time.

That is crazy! I've never seen anything like that before on here. Sad it is, mother nature is by far the meanest thing out there!

I am also trying to harvest a preticular buck this year. I will shot other deer but i am mainly hunting for him. I have been chasing hism for three years. I seen the first time, the summer of 2006 walking through a corn feild in velvet on July 5. I seen him one time during that bow season chasing a doe. Then in 2007 i waswalking back to my house after scouting and i came up over a hump and he was about 60 yards away so i backed up and layed dowm in the crp. About 2 mins later he came over the hill andwalk about 15 yards from me with 2 other bucks. Then during the youth hunt at the end of september he came out at the top of a hill 300 yards from me. He walked down the hill where he could see me and i climbed down and stalked over with muzzleloader in hand and got to 167 yard and i could not find a good rest. He was not getting closer so i aimed and let it fly. I pulled the trigger earlyier then i wanted to and as soon as it when off i new i missed and he ran off. He was probably 145 inched. He was missed by someone eles a half mile away during bow season at 25 yard. And i just got went out to put up my trail camera and i think i saw him. I steped out in to awheat feild and he stood up and had a huge body. He had probably 3 inch brow times and 2 inch G2's. In the same feild i seen him the first time.

Good Luck

Here is another angle ..................

This was actually the second buck that I set my sights on and then found dead. The first was a heavy racked 8. I was going out 2 summers later to put some salt out and found his skull. I hope the third time is the charm!!

Holding out for one particular buck is a good recipe for "tag soup". I'd look for him but keep an open mind for other quality bucks!

I usually shoot a 120-130" buck and then focus on a particular buck. This year I have cameras up so I might have a better idea who is around and how often so I can better judge things. Last year I took a 120" and then passed on a 140" class 9 point while trying to smoke a 12 pointer that would go into the 160" range, tha dang thing had my number all season so I ended up closing out with a 120" 8 pointer that we will be chowing down on tomorrow at Coon Creek
