Default New Farm To Hunt

I got word yesterday that I could hunt a farm with a neighbor that is just north of HNI headquarters by a few of miles. There is a ton of grass/field areas and corn with a dense area that looks like it could be a great bedding area and a weak treeline. I can hunt everything West of the road in the picture, anyone ever hunt a setup like this and where were you productive?? Somewhere along the north end of this property there is a small brook that I want to check out and the tall grass is by the lower left corner. The area has not been bowhunted or shotgun hunted, the only people that have had permission were Pheasant hunters in past years.

Yup, on Rounte 47 just after Ackman. It looks like it has great potential and I know they see deer so we will see. I think I am going to be walking pretty far in though, so I have to get into shape before season[:@] I'll let you know as time goes on what it holds. It is either going to be a bust or I have a feeling that something big could come out of it so we will see.

Best part is that it is a phenominal Pheasant and Goose spot plus I can take out the clays and shoot them there so regardless I get good use out of it.

I am going to walk it and see what I can find. Chances are there could be some good sheds out there is the rodents haven't gotten them. Don't think it will be as good as Erik's though[:@]

I think it would be pretty hard to top Erik's place.

raceway - I know a guy who hunts land that probably butts right up to you. They've killed some big deer over the years, but nothing recently. Our WONDERFUL DNR has been using sharp shooters to kill every deer they see in that area so the #s are definitely down. Good luck though, it's nice having a piece close to home to hunt!

Thanks for the great news Justin, hahaha. Seriously though, why is DNR killing the deer in that area?
