RE: what range do you prefer to shoot game at?
i've had a doe walk dierctly at me within 5 yards. i was on the ground in denim so not very well concealed. The farthest i'd say was about...40yds
i keep my pins at 10-20-30-40 just to keep things nice and even so i can shoot with an imaginary 15, 25, etc pin if i want
but i like 20-30 yds the best

My 5 pins are set at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. To be honest, not alot of difference. The majority of my shots will be at 15 to 30. With the speed of my bow, 300fps. it really does not matter. A 4 inch kill zone is always attainable. My biggest concern is the angle. I hunt from tree blinds as well as ground blinds. So impacting the kill zone is what I practice for.

Anywhere from 10 to 20 yards. Anything closer than that and I have problems with stopping deer w/o them spooking, tracking them with my bow drawn and not getting busted for movement, etc. I have shot one buck at around 18 feet and its just too close - things really go in fast forward.

Think of it this way: if you're home alone (or you think you are ), and all of a sudden you hear a noise -- no matter how muffled it is -- in very close proximity to you, you're more than likely coming unglued. Put that same noise 40 yards away in the house, and you want to know what it is, but you're not peeling yourself off the ceiling this time.
