Nice sheds....same buck. The best way to tell is to turn them over and look at the pedicles, they will look very similar.
Yeah I know, I have looked at the pedicles and they look very similar.

We found the one that we had scored in November. It was kind of buried in an old creek bed. My brother in law stumbled across it while he was bowhunting. So we figured it was from the spring of 2007. Then the next one we found this April. It also was buried and pretty discolored, so either it is also been there since last year or it is another buck's shed from this year or it is the same buck's shed from a year later. Who knows?

Very interesting Dan! I think they are from the same buck also. Likesomeone already mentioned, the brow tines look a lot alike.

Good point Dan, I'll have to keep that one in mind.

They look like the same buck to me also, too many similarities on them.

Its pretty crazy when you look at a bunch of sheds and see how different each pedicle is. Some are long, oval, the burrs ride high and some where the burrs come down and will almost sit lower than the pedicle itself.

They're almost like fingerprints.

Like the guys said above check the pedicles. But the one shed looks really chewed on and the other minimal.Either the rodents are real bad where the first one dropped or the other one was dropped alot later.I would think with headgear that size he would want that antler off as fast as possible to get his head balanced again so it could be two.But they do look like pretty much like a perfect set.Either way there is a monster lurking in your woods.

Yep...Notice how the burrs all around both peticles are about the same size, configuration and distance from the base of the pedicle. Not to mention, they both have kind of a heart shape to them.

Especially after seeing the pedicles, I would say they are definately from the same year....he grew them during 2006 and they were laying out there a year before you found them.

Congrats again on a great find!
