Quivers, Shoot with or without???

When hunting, do you shoot with or without the quiver???

When hunting on the ground, I do. When hunting in a treestand, I do not. Wanted to get everyone' s take on this subject???

Also, if you do shoot with a quiver, what type (hip, back, detachable or 2-piece)?? I personally use a detachable.

Thanks and good hunting!!

I do all my shooting with it on the bow so it always feels the same to me .

I shoot my hunting bow with a loaded quiver on once a year, just to prove that I hit exactly the same out to 50 yards. If you allow your quiver to cant your bow, it would change your point of impact.

When hunting from a treestand, I always take my quiver off as soon as I get my safety belt on. For me, it is one less thing to get in the way when shooting.

It probably just boils down to a personal preference, as I am sure many deer have met their demise from a bow carrying a quiver.

Mine comes off as soon as I get into the stand I do practice some with it on just in case I would get a shot while enroute to the stand.

Although I have the $100 Mathews two-piece bolt-on, I quickly abandoned it for a Kwikee Quiver detachable which I remove once I pull my bow up to my stand and clip in to my screw-in attachment on the tree beside me. That way, the quiver' s still within easy reach for a second shot, and the bow' s much lighter for holding and manuevering.

RE: Quivers, Shoot with or without???

I attached a spare bracket to my climber and put my quiver on it as soon as I get to the tree and climb with it on the stand. That way I don' t have a quiver and arrows to hang on brush as I pull it up. I had a couple of occasions where brush and/or my climbing rope pulled arrows out before I ever got it up to me. I don' t like leaving evidence on the ground for deer to find. It does great on my Ol' Man wrap-around type climber.

I take it off in the stand and practice w/o it. I like white fletches (old eyes) and don' t want them " waving" around.

I practice and hunt with a bow mounted quiver, a 2 piece which is lighter and more solid, at least on my bow. Believe it or not I used to shoot 3D with my bow and the quiver on it.

I hunt, practice, shoot spots and 3d with the quiver on. Just something I have done for over 20 yrs.

I practice with mine on and off the bow. when in the stand I take it off for the same reasons stated before, one less thing to worry about.

Without. I do 95 % of my hunting from trees. I carry and extra screw in Kwickee bracket in my back pack. I also have one attached to my climber. Even when setting up on the ground the first thing I do after clearing the ground under foot and checking shooting lanes is to remove my quiver and laying out an extra arrow.

I hunt without my quiver on. I have a detachable quiver that I take off and hang from my stand by a peice of string.

i own a mathews as well but beware....if u buy the 2 piece non-detachable quiver, u can only hold 4 arrows if u shoot the SURE-LOC sight cause the knob gets in the way

RE: Quivers, Shoot with or without???

I practice both ways. I still hunt a lot and it stays on the bow. I also hunt stands and i take it off when in a tree or ground blind. I have a level on my site so don' t worry much about the torque effect. My bow shoots the same whether it is on or off and I' m comfortable shooting either way.

I have a Bohning quiver. I do not leave the quiver on when hunting from a tree, but do when on the ground. I practice both with and without it on.

I use a detachable Kwikee Quiver and practice with and without it on. I do the same when hunting depending on what stand I am hunting from.

RE: Quivers, Shoot with or without???

I use a detatchable quiver. Alpine Soft-Loc on my Q2, and I' m not sure yet what' s going on my RazorTec, it will either be another Alpine or a HOYT. As soon as I get settled in my Double Bull or Summit stand the quiver comes off. I can' t stand shooting with a quiver on my bow. I tried a 2 piece MATHEWS for awhile and hated it.[:' (] bow didn' t balance right and it made my bow too heavy.

RE: Quivers, Shoot with or without???

My very first new bow about 13yrs ago I had a noisy kwikee quiver, so I removed it everytime I got into the tree. Sometimes it fell out of the tree, once I took a shot, and had an opportunity for a 2nd. It was a pain trying to get the arrow out of the quiver, while it hung from a broken branch. I vowed that day my next bow would have a better quietier two piece. Every bow I' ve had since the quiver stays on. I shoot 3D' s all summer with it on, and I hunt with it on. It just makes more sense to leave it on. The arrows are readily accessible if needed, they also add some camo cover to your outline at full draw. Plus if you ever still hunt with a bow you need it on, unless use a hip quiver. So why not do it all the time, and practice that way. That to me saves alot of hassel & worries!!!

hip quiver made form a martin dechtable...belted on my fanny pack.
take it off in the tree, or ground.

I take my Kwikee Kwiver off, whether I' m in a tree or on the
ground.

RE: Quivers, Shoot with or without???

I hunt with mine on. It is always on and I am used to the weight, so my bow feels bare without it. I always hunt from the ground too.
It sounds like most treestand hunters go without.
