who uses those spitfire mech. broadheads?

i was going to try a new broadhead and i was wondering how those spitfires work. if anybody has any luck with them or if there was something that you didn' t like about them plez let me know -- do they fly true like the field points?

I' ve used then with 100% sucess rate. Killed 5 deer with as many shots with htem. Blood trails are unbelievable. Seem to fly good to me. I shoot ACC 3-60' s with 4" feathers and right helical.

My experience hasn' t been as good as thoose mentioned above with the spitfire. I think the new Scorpion that NAP just came out with is a big improvement. I also think the NAP Shockwave is a better head. Of course this is my experience, I always say buy a couple of packs of various heads, shoot them, and then make up your mind.

My biggest problem was penetration which seemed to be a byproduct of their blade retention system. I know 5 Shot has done tests on them and found similar results. I will say this, the quality of the product is A+ as most things NAP puts out are. I do know a lot of people who swear by them so that is a very positive thing. I do think the Scorpion looks like a winner and I would look at it first out of the NAP mechanicals.

I havew heard great things about all the NAP broadheads as well. I posted something on the best blood trail and with out a doubt the spitfires won by far so it won' t be a tough decision of what broadhead to shoot next year.

I have used them for 3 years now and have had excellent results with them. They do fly just like my fieldpoints and the bloodtrails are unbelieveable.

Excellent broadheads!!! They' re about thirty bucks for three and well worth it. They have an inch and a half cutting diameter and are strong and sharp. And yes, they do fly like field points!

10 kills with the Spitfires. 8 of the 10 fell within sight. The other two left a very good blood trail. Easy to follow in the dark with not a very good flashlight.
They fly exactly like my field points.

I shot a nice 8ptr last year with a 100grn Spitfire. I guess you could call it both a bad shot but good placement. I hit the deer in the spine and it dropped immediately. I was shootin at a fairly steep angle and hit high.

The SF hit the deer in the spine, traveled over the top of the spine (under the skin) and the point just barely pierced the outside layer of skin on the other side. All blades opened, none broke and it even busted the carbon arrow off about 2" above the broadhead.

Devasting hit on the deer, unfortunately not an immediate death. I had to finish him off by cutting his throat.

I have taken 5 deer with the spitfire. Very accurate and very lethal. Seem to shoot like the field points. Leaves a great blood trail. Three deer pretty much droped in their tracks and the other 2 traveled less than 50 yards.

this is my first year bow hunting, but when it came time to choose a broadhead. it was natural for me to choose the spitfire 100 grn. b/c that is what my dad shoots. the entrance hole looks like a 12 gauge slug hit it, and the exit hole is a total mess. the lungs are completely destroyed. i shot my first doe with the bow this year and it dropped within sight. excellent flying point too. i would highly reccomend. it feels good not having to track a deer. but remember, shot placement is more important that broadheads.

I have been looking for information on the New Scorpion Expandables.... what weight grain will they be available in?

RE: who uses those spitfire mech. broadheads?

My hunting partner has shot two deer with the spitfires.
The first one (' 01) deflected on an angled entry, skimming along a rib. He did not kill the deer.
Now my stubborn buddy stuck with them and got a double lung passthru on his buck this year. Made boone, but I won' t use ' em. 50% not good enough. I' m 3/3 P&Ys with rocket miniblasters.

I have been using 100 grn Spitfires ever since they came out!
I have taken 11 deer and 8 turkeys with these great broadheads!
They fly like my field points out to 50 yards and group very nicely.
Never have tried any other expandable......never needed too!
You can check out some of the critters I have taken with these expandables on the photo gallery at www.stealtharchery.com

I have killed 5 deer with them including a p&y buck this year. although I have lost 2 deer shot in th shoulder (poor shot placement). they are a very good head and any head can " fail" if shot placement is poor!!!!!

RE: who uses those spitfire mech. broadheads?

I use the 100grn SF, Proseries, mainly because the tip won' t rust. Two shots, two deer, one ran 10 yards the other 60. I wasn' t totally happy with the penetration though and 5shot has me thinking about trying the shockwaves, I will probably buy some Scorpion XP' s as well.

http://www.newarchery.com/broadheads/scorpion.asp

This is the page on the NAP website for the Scorpion XP, I just spoke with them and their target release date is June 1st, so there goes any winter activities playing with new toys.[:' (] She also said that it is not in the plan right know to have a Pro-series version

I use them for turkeys, but the cutting diameter is a
little big for me with deer. Quality made with very
sharp blades.

I have been using 100 gr. Spits for 6(?) years . I realy like them, but was tempted to change this year but after reading " Smokpole' s" reply about the backbone shot I think I will keep them. I hav always been concerned about streangth in the head. They fly JUST LIKE A FIELD POINT, GUARANTEED!!!!!!!!

RE: who uses those spitfire mech. broadheads?

My favorite broadhead so far. I too like the pro-series also for the extra couple of bucks . I have taken several deer with them and the bloodtrails are awesome on good hits. I also shot a nice buck this year and broke the entry shoulder and spine without any damage to the broadhead.

RE: who uses those spitfire mech. broadheads?

I used the 100gr 3 blades SpitFire last year and got a nice 8 point buck. I do believe these head are one of the best mech in the market but Now I only use them for Turkey; I prefer the Muzzy 100gr for Deer, It' s easy to get a passtrue.
