Annual "Dream Team" thread....

Well... I know it is a little early for this post... But the weather sucks... It is about to start pouring any minute and I really have nothing better to do right now... (Blame my ealry thread on Shed for bringing the contest up the other day :D)

So.... with out further delay....

For the 2008-2009 HNI Big Buck contest...... What9 guys/ gals would you place on your "dream team" alongwith you?

Elaborate on your choices if you would like..... Remember this is for total inches of bone... Not so much for who are your buddies on here.

Who ever picks the team with the most inches I will send some kind of BowTech goodie (shirt, hat, cooler, something or another...) So I would suggest picking guys who you think will be in the contest this fall and who you think will produce.

Good luck!

This will close once sign ups start for the HNI contest... You can still pick a team afterwards... But you can't win anything ;)

As of right now Dukemichaels and Bukmastr as they are into the style of hunting I like. (Public challange)

Edit: Throw magic into this as he hunts the same type of public I do when I am in Northern Wisconsin.
Double Edit: I would like to add __Dan
Triple Edit: Now from a bunch of guys like me prospective it would be Schultzy, Bowhuntingfool, Jfergus7, JMbuckhunter, Tx, among many others. I will add as it comes to
mind with a quadtriple edit.:D

X2, I haven't been on here long so I'm at a loss.

jmbuckhunter has a sweet new property with a great cam pic so he looks like he'll deliver. GregH had a good year last season and has a big one still running his spot from what I remember reading. WKP Todd also had a spot that had a monster that was found last year from what I read. Then you got Magicman, Duke Michaels, HNI justin that seem to do well. Shed33 has some great results and Hunsucker seems to deliver and have some good areas.

There are also some sleepers out there so I'm at a loss. I think I'll put together a list of some obvious and not obvious people.

GregH for obvious reasons
Shed33 see above
WKP Todd after seeing the bucks he was PASSING on the Grind, WOW
Hunsucker cash money
Shawn cause he's rollin' with Hunsucker
DukeMichaels seems like he could kill a Poper in downtown Manhattan
KellyKY another cash money Kaching
JMBuckhunter puts em down big time
Antler Eater always gettin em down and telling great tales of the hunt
Myself-Only because what's the point of having all these studs if I'm not on the winning team. Besides, I'm due this year.

Hehe, oh no, I opened up the "location" can of worms!! The contest was for a total score from 9 hunters.

Its a 2 part equation. Location ANDtop shelfhunters. Just because there are big inch bucks on a property means its a done deal. You need both skill and big bucks to make the Dream Team.Put GMMAT, Rob, Matt/PA,on some prime Iowa or Kansas properties and watch what happens.I know they are good hunters and do what it takes, pre season scouting, practice shooting, studying the land and the deer, just like I know my Dream Team will do right guys [8D]

Sorry if the location thing offended anyone, but Im not stupid, Im tryin to win a Bowtech hat lol!!!

tsoc 05-27-2008 12:25 PM

RE: Annual "Dream Team" thread....

Diesel77 I was just kidding, mature bucks are not easy to kill regardless of where they call home!
I don't think it is coincidence though that no hunters have been mentioned that are not from the statistically more successful states.
Not looking to hijack!

RE: Annual "Dream Team" thread....

Personally - I like my odds with the Dark Horses. Or a resurrected TeamXX.

Funny thing about this contest is: If you have a guy who shoots a 60" deer, 3 years in a row - he's statisticallymore valuablethan a guy who shoots a 170-class buck and goes 1-for-3. Consistency wins championships.

Now, just off the top of my head, I personallyremember these guys going at least 2-for-3 in the past 3 seasons:

Hunsucker
Rob
Motownhonkey
Shed33
Rybohunter
BOW_HNT
buttonbuckmaster
Dukemichaels
kshunter
Antlereater
Tribal
GregH
Germ
Dubbya
130woodman
MNpurple
bry
Justin
Greg/MO
RickJames
jmbuckhunter
AR34
Tribal
buckeye
teejay
The King is 3-for-3. Obviously.
Jeff
Atlasman (respect)
_______________

I'm sure I missed a bunch...

There's a lot of discussion on this site about "location." Right or wrong, location might play a pretty big part in the caliber of whitetail you're shooting, but the great thing about this contest is that "location" isn't nearly as much of a factor as is consistency.

The point is: I don't care if you've never killed a 100" deer in your entire life. Hell, there may not be a PY class deer in your entire county. The crux of what I'm saying here is that if you're filling your buck tag every year, you can be on my team anytime.

This is a contest of quantity, not quality - consistency, not location.
