Arrows

How do you guys pick out arrows? I don't know much about arrows or what constitutes a good one? I usually take recommendations from my friends . So what makes an arrow "good"? and how do you determine that?

Kamil---from what I have shot over the years, it seems like good arrows for me means this-----1) They are consistently straight coming out of the box ( I will pay more for straighter arrows). 2) They draw silently on my bow, and 3) They pack a punch when they hit and don't snap. I know that sounded real technical--LOL.
I know this will turn into a "this is what I use thread", but here is what I use....Beman ICS Camo Hunter 400 grains coming off my #70 bow. I was never given any guidance on arrows, but just "bought and shot" many different types of arrows over the years and for the money/durability/effectiveness, I rate the arrows I shoot as being very good.

I started with recommedations from friends, then one of them ran a program to size them for the specific bow.Thought about tryoing others but what I have shoots great so no sense in trying and spending on others. Thanks to The Rev and Kanga I have saved alot of time and money!

With arrows, unlike many things in archery, price is a pretty good indicator of what you are getting (excluding the Aramids, that's just ridiculous). I like an arrow that is heavy in the GPI area (grains per inch) and also super tough. I've shot Maxima Hunters and they are great, very durable. I am going back to the Full Metal Jackets because I liked how they performed on deer with the much heavier weight, and the new camo ones just look really sweet. Easton and Carbon Express IMO are leading the way right now in arrows. Easton has done alot with small diameter arrows, but they are super tough and Carbon Express has come out with lots of different materials/coatings to improve their arrows. Plenty of arrows out there, but don't go cheap!
