The only floating pin I am fimiliar with is the G5 sights. Mine is set up like this, my three fixed pins are set at 20, 30 and 40 yds. The floating 4th pin moves up or down with the turn of a knob on the side of the sight. So I sighted in at 45yds and made a mark on the dial, 50 yds and made a mark, and so on. Then when you are in the field if you have a 50 yd shot you turn the dial to the 50yd mark and there you go. Instead of having a ton of pins for different ranges, you only have one that is adjustable on the fly.
