Katera XL

What is everyones opinion on the Katera XL? I was thinking about trading my Trykon for one, just wanting to hear what others thought of this bow.

RE: Katera XL

I have just shot one in the shop and LOVE the draw cycle, much better than the Trykon imo.I have a bad shoulder and was able to pull it with ease at a higher poundage than I currently shoot.

It heald fairly steady as well, not as steady as a true competition bow but more than adequate for a hunting model.

It was quiet and smooth, even without any extra stabilizer or dampening devices.

IMO,a great choice for hunting.

Definately on my short list,if I decide to buy this year.

TFOX - Thanks for the reply. I am heading to the local Hoyt dealer today, he said he has a few of every model of bow setup so I can do some arrow flinging. I have a bad shoulder as well, partially tore my rotator cuff 2 winters ago.

The Trykon is definately not overly smooth, but it sure does shoot good. Trying to decide now if I want to trade it, or just keep it for a backup bow.

You will love the draw of the Katera XL over the Trykon, especially with the shoulder.

Take a look at the 7-37 as well, that is a real shooter. That bow holds like a rock at full draw.

I have shot the XL and the smaller Katera, both phenominal bows. I shot a lot of bows in the last month and the Katera was my favorite by far, smooth draw and extremely forgiving for such a low brace height.

I have an appointment with the local shop owner at 7. We'll see what happens.

I shot all the new Hoyts tonite. Came home with the Trykon XL. Its a sweeet bow. Definately alot smoother draw cycle, and no handshock compared to my Trykon.

Great Bow, Good luck with it this season.

Thanks for the help guys. I just got in from sighting her in. Only shot at 20 yards today. I need to invest in a new target before I get too serious about shooting this summer. My arrows were poking thru my bag target if that tells you how wore out it is. My dealer is going to MAP this bow out for me after I get it all broke in. Can't wait to see what its shooting, my Trykon was pretty fast, this thing is a screamer, and dead silent. :D

I would like to know what, if any, differance there is between the Katera and the Vectrix?

Roskoe 05-11-2008 11:28 AM

RE: Katera XL

The Katera is a bit faster without losing the smoothness of the Vectrix - in my opinion.

RE: Katera XL

The Katera felt a bit smoother to me, with less handshock that the Vectrix or the Vectrix Plus.

Here is my new baby ready to rock n roll this fall!

What is everyone's preference on quivers? I haven't had a quiver attached to my bow in years, but some of the new quick detach ones look pretty slick.

I have been shooting the XL now for about 2 months. When I switched to Hoyt this year, I needed a bow I could shoot 3D with as well as hunt with this fall. This bow is simply amazing. I got mine with the X3 cam, I liked the draw cycle better with that than the cam 1/2 plus. It shoots amazingly quick and is super eazy to shoot. I have often told people that this bow shoots a 100 x's better than I shoot. If you go shoot one, I promise you will fall in love with it and leave the shop with one. The Hoyt rep in my area has said this is by far the best all around bow Hoyt has ever put out.

RE: Katera XL

I opted for the cam.5 on mine but it is like kickin stated a tack driver - shoots better than I can

I have the Katera and that WILL be my bow of choice for years to come! I am totally happy and comfortable with it, no reason to change for the next 4-5 years!

Yep, I am not allowing myself to shoot ANY other bow, at least till next spring....;)

There has got to be a point that the manufacturers are going to hit, where there is no more room for improvement I would think.
