2. Shoot a Bowtech. Sorry about this one if you're a Hoyt/Mathews/PSE shooter, but switching to my06 Ally has made increased my confidence in delivering lethal shots, this is fundamental and it occurred because of the help/support available here.
:eek:okay wtf. Most people say things like that poking fun, but you are actually serious?

1. Aim Small, Miss Small
2. Do things YOUR way, especially if they work. (Don't care what others think about your hunting tactics)
3. Get in early, get out late.
4. Scout, know your areas, and what the animals are going to do.

When you get down to about two weeks before hunting season, limit your shooting to one arrow per day. I get up early, put on my slippers, go out in the yard and fire one perfect arrow. A broadhead into a broadhead target. Put the bow away and go to work.
I'm a firm believer in the "one shot" practice session, especially closer to the season, or the hunt itself. That buck's only giving you one anyway!:D

Another tip I can add to this is when you do practice, HOLD your bow back as long as possible and then try to let that "perfect' arrow go. Simply because you never know what will happen!!

A few really good tips in here so far..

I always liked the practicing with 1 arrow thing too.. Dr Andy actually told it too me about 3 years ago.. and I've since seen better results with my shooting because of it. A real good tip.

I don't know about my best tip.. but I gots one that deals with tracks and paying attention to details.

After you recover a whitetail examine all the hooves of the animal.. you will start to gain a fair amount of knowledge from this. And really pay close attention to the edges of the hoof itself and especially the tip. Although not 100% true.. its pretty accurate (of course rocky terrain would cause different results).. you'll often learn that bucks that are older have rounded edges and tips on their hooves.. while does of the same age often have pointed "toes" so to speak.

Bucks generally drag their "feet" as they walk where as does pick up their feet pretty high.. the constant dragging by a older deer produces rounded edges on the tip of the hoof.

Since paying attention to this a few years back I've not come across a single 4 yr. old or greater buck who still has pointed "toes". They've always been rounded.

Obviously look for larger sets of tracks.. but I've seen quite a few does with BIG tracks.. but always (except a very old 6+ yr. old girl) the doe's have sharper edges.

It's made my identification with tracks much more precise while in the field.

Hope all this makes sense.[&:]

Here is one gear wise, I use a Kwikee Quiver, I bought an extra bracket and screwed it into my climber and attach my quiver once I'm in my tree and hunting!:)

When someone ask where you got him at,lie through your teeth or you may regret it.:D

1.Wind direction:know where your scent is heading,don't guess."Test"
2.Take a path to your stand to avoid a deer crossing your path or winding you enroute to and from.
3.Don't get out of your stand early.

Practice sitting in your stand. For me it takes time to gear up to an all day sit. I have to work my way up to it.

That's funny, because you wouldn't believe the amount of people who used to ask me where I killed a few of my "book" bucks at...

I always told them the Shawnee National Forest. While true, it's only about 300,000 acres in size. ;)
