Swift arrow..."It does give our past time a bad name and I think that whomever the web administrator is for this site should not allow it. We need better morals and judgement IMO. What is right? And who draws the line?

Answer: YOU know what is right and DRAW THE LINE. "

I agree 100%. This site is call huntingnet.com and when people search for HUNTING on the web, guess which site comes up first? THIS ONE. There is no room for this kind of advertising when it is linked to the worlds largest hunting site and for better or worse is the silent symbol of the hunting community. Please get that type of advertising off here.

1. Websites run on servers.....servers are NOT free.
2. Attempting to forcefeed YOUR personal ethics on others is a really slippery slope. Sooner or later someone will come along with ethics that will wipe out your hunting methods as well.
3. I bet you could rid this site of advertisers that you personally deem to be unethical.......simply open your wallet, and replace their advertising dollars.
4. I always find it saddening that some of my fellow hunters feel that they are the authority on how others should hunt.

And just so the record is clear.....I have never partaken in a high fenced hunt. I simply do not have any false notions that it is any of my business how others choose to spend THEIR money on perfectly legal activities of their choice. Nor do I plan on making demands to a business(HNI) that allows me to use their service for absolutely nothing, and I am amazed that some of you are so pretentious to feel otherwise.[]

Big Country, noone is making any demands on anyone...we are expressing our opinion about something called a "guaranteed Elk Hunt".....and the comment about being pretentious is pretty inflammatory as our intentions are nothing but honorable in our attempts to make the hunting community look good.

Really?

Are you saying that you are NOT attempting to persuade HNI to remove that particular advertiser? Or other advertisers that do not fit into your personal beliefs of what is ethically/morally correct as it pertains to hunting?

Don`t get me wrong.....I am 100% confident that you, and others on this thread are doing what you truly feel is best for our hunting future.

I am also confident, due to my many, many years of hunting, and seeing subjects like this unfold, that your well intentioned ideals are detrimental in the long run.

I do not care to participate in a guaranteed elk hunt....I am pretty certain just how that hunt would be. That being said.....we, as hunters, are less than 10% of the US population. Anti hunters are almost exactly the same number. Those are NOT the people we need to worry about.

Groups like PETA, ALF, ELF, and HSUS, to name a few, only have one fina goal...to end ALL forms of hunting. Period.

With a strong and unified stance, we as hunters can easily portray the anti`s as the domestic terrorists they really are. We should NEVER apologize for our legal hunting methods. We should NEVER apologize for legal business ventures.(such as high fence establishments)

We do not have to take part in activities like that, but many people for a variety of reasons do participate in them. Those same people also participate in hunting just like you and I prefer. And those people, on average, have more money to fight anti`s than you and I do.

IF.....we allow, or even worse yet, help the anti`s to put an end to high fence hunting, that is allowing them a foothold on the climb they are undertaking.....which is to end ALL hunting, fishing, and trapping in this country.[:@]

Please do not think for one minute that the anti`s would slow down a whit after taking HF hunting from those of us who participate.

And one thing is certain, right after high fenced hunts, comes bowhunting.[]

When you eat a hamburger, that cow was not given a sporting chance to escape, and that is OK. Animals are here for our use.

Beyond the hunting morality aspect of high fenced operations comes an aspect of much greater importance.......private property owners rights.

Who the heck am I to tell a man or woman who owns property that they cannot erect a high fence, then purchase privately owned elk, deer, etc., and then charge a fee to hunt/kill them?

That secenario is no different than using one`s private property to erect a building, buy grocieries, and sell them to the public for a profit.

Sorry for the long winded reply, but I am attempting to channel a fellow hunters energy to HELP all hunters, not to help divide us for easy conquer.

Awesome posts Big Country!!

I am often flabbergasted at the number of hunters that are so eager to ban some form of legal hunting.

I wonder, if an anti hunter came to their door with a petition to ban (in this case) high fence hunting, would they sign it. From some of the posts in this thread you would have to think they would . I sometimes think we should worry more about hunters hurting hunting than antihunters hurting hunting.

What's the big deal??

Let's say that only "sometimes" the grocery store had food... (i.e Guided hunt)

Wouldn't you pay a little more to have "guaranteed" food? (i.e Guaranteed hunt)

Thank you Sir!

I agree that some among us might sign such a petition, and that is sad.

The good thing is though....I truly believe that all of those that would sign such a document mean to do the right thing.

I used to debate these issues in an aggressive manner, and at times I probably still do push a little more than I should.[&o]

My goal is to win those fellow hunters over to the other side of the discussion, so we can stand together for our rights. I know guys that are really great people, and darn good hunters, yet they partake in high fenced hunts as well as free ranging hunts. If that is their desire, I surely do not think less of them for having the urge, and ability(money) to do so.

And I want them on our side if and when the day comes that we have a real fight on our hands to protect our hunting future.

I am not eager for any type of legal hunting to be banned, but rather for such places as the advertiser to fall flat on their face as in bankrupt.

Well, although I would NOT like to see anybody lose their hard earned money.......capitolism has a way of taking care of poorly though out, or poorly run business`s.

Time will tell if you are in the majority on this one CM.
