Default Arrows by the dozen

I stole this question directly form McPhee in the Trad. section. I just wondered if any of you have an answer.

Whyarearrowssold in dozens? Is there any reason for it? And is there any reason they aren't sold as 10 or 5?

I never really thought about it before and I can't really see a reason for it

Can anyone explain?
