I just can't decide...what would you use?

I am in the process of building my hunting arras for this fall. They are XX78 Super Slam, 2512's dipped white with orange cresting and black highlights. I know I am going to use 2 white and 1 orange...but....Here's the question......

4" shield cut feathers......or 4" vanes? I know the advantages and disadvantages of each, they will both stabilize my arrow equally as well....

Here's my thinking......I'm thinking feathers. I can use fletching tape instead of glue that will eat the lacquer, and they are a tad lighter.

So, which is it. 4" vanes or feathers? If you would like to say why, I'll entertain that as well.

I'll be using 4" feathers for my compound setup. 5" on my trad bow.

Feathers, they can get all tore up and still fly perfect.

I'd go feathers if I never hunted in the brush or the rain, which I do so I shoot vanes, depends on your application.

I wouldnt use anything in a 4"..4" fletching puts too much drag on the arrow and not requried to stabalize the shaft during flight.

When your equipment marriage is set-up properly, a 2" fletch is all that you need.

Blazers are great. Right now I have 3" quick spins on my Carbon Express Maxima FOC350s.
Blazers just aren't the best option for big, heavy aluminum arrows. I've shot Blazers the last 4 seasons.....and you'll notice........

It wasn't one of the options.....;)

I have stayed away from feathers because they can make a lot of noise if they rub anything.

Feathers in a heartbeat!!

Whatever everyone here recommends - I would probably use the opposite. Just because.

If it was a tie, would you not use flethching:D

I'd go with feathers - and use a hard helical offset. It might be interesting to fletch up a few with 4" veins and see if they shoot to the same spot - in my bow, they do. Carry one of these in your quiver just in case you get caught in the torrential downpour.

I rolled 4" feathers on my aluminums, same colors as you, and they look real sharp. The feathers also fly very well on the aluminums. If you are going old school with the arrow material (aluminum) may as well go feathers. Sorry, don't have a better reason than that!

4" Feathers unless it is raining or snowing the I switch to 4" NAP Quick Spins.

If you're gonna pimp out your arras I would go with the shield cut feathers. They just look really cool to me. Regular ole vanes are boring, plus they make waterproofing for feathers.:D

Don I'd go with feathers, but why shield cut? For looks? Parabolic cut for me. They just seem quieter.

Feathers all the way, I prefer the barred feathers and have used feathers 95% of the time I have been hunting

Yeah, looks mainly.

I'm surprised, actually. We don't hear much talk about feathers on this board, but feathers have a commanding lead.
