The best stand I ever had didn't look good at all.I put it up to get a idea where the bucks were coming into a area your describing.The better bucks were traveling about 50yds down wind of the area.7 bucks later and the farmer cut my tree into fire wood.I haven't had much success from the ground in this spot either.

I went out and visited "that stand" this morning. I pulled 4 stands from a property I rarely hunt but left 3 on it and made sure the pegs were backed out a turn since the trees were close to overgrowing them. I love the stand but it isn't the most pleasant stand, hangs over a creek and has a mean 35' drop. It is in a great funnel between a nursery and 60 acres of woods with crops on one side of the creek and bedding and wheat fields on the other. It is a scary stand but the Buck activity is worth the risk.
