Default Honest Question: Cow hunts.

So I have an honest question for you guys:

Let's say a local farmer approaches you and says "Ya know what? I'm taking a half-dozen beef cattle to the slaughterhouse this weekend. Since their collective fate is already sealed, if you want, you can come out with your friendsand shoot them with your archery tackle, as long as you pay forany meat that you ruin." "I'll show you which six to shoot, then you guys can help me load them up."

The gears start turning in your mind. You'd love to do some penetration testing with a few different broadheads and just work on your shot placement with a live target. You've never harvested an animal that large before... Hmmm....

So this wouldn't be "hunting" per se, but moreso ethically taking an animal that was alreadytabbed to be butchered.

I'd do it! I would be just as serious about it as shooting any other animal.

Well I dont really know if it is ethical in the minds of most Beef Eaters aka people sitting from the cheap seats. But I dont know that I would shoot a cow just to shoot a cow. I will say that I really do not know how they are butchered though. Can anyone enlighten?

We shot some pigs that got out of the pen once(repeat offenders/wouldn't stay in)a few years ago. Not as much fun as it sounded...and let me tell ya this.....a 300 hog is tougher than woodpecker lips.[8D]

It's funny that you would ask because everytime that we drive past a cow in the field I always say that I would love to shoot one with my bow just to see what it would do.

I think it would be interresting to try it out. Of course if all six look like the one in the picture you better make sure that you are on target!! You don't want a wounded pissed off bull coming at you!

not me...most slaughter houses will not take dead cattle...they get to charge you for that! I also think it has something to do with how clean the meat is....most use that crazy bolt thing to the brain...like on no country for old men movie..I just don't think i could shoot an animal that is in a fence anyway. just me.....not saying it's wrong
