I believe that getting a turkey into bow range is much eaiser that getting a mature deer. But after the arrow hits its mark, I think turkey are the toughest bird/animal on the planet. I understand that some deer do get away, but it almost like they watch t.v. Once they are hit, they know they are supposed to scumb to their wounds. Even after you cut a turkeys head off, it still tries to get away.

I started a thread on here a while back.....

The number of mature bucks taken by archers far outweighed the number of mature gobblers (again...taken by archers).

That tells me something.;)

Spin it any way you want, Gary.....MY BET is that for people who hunt both via archery tackle.....the number of mature bucks taken FAR outweighs the number of mature toms taken.

Actually it's hard to "spin"

My neighbor has a pile of mature turkeys, and 0 mature bucks;) It all depands on who is hunting and where. In MI up until 5 years ago we still had to apply for a permit. If the last 20 years I had hunted LB's instead of big racks, I would have more LB's

I am not disagreeing with you, I am just saying we can not comparethem. Too many varibles, IMO

How many days did you deer hunt?
How many days did you turkey hunt?

You're right Jeff you're not the exception, most guys including me spend more time deer hunting than Turkey hunting;) That is my exact point.

So if one could hunt the same amount of time, have same length of seasons, and hunted them both hard. I would guess it may pretty close, some may have more matur bucks, some may have more LB. It will all depand on location and pressure for both[8D]

I hunt for whatever time a particular season is open, Gary. That's (the shorter season for turkeys) part of the equation!

It'll be interesting to see how my other thread is answered by archery turkey/deer hunters.;)

If I taxed you with making a prediction on whether or not you could kill a male deer with your bow this coming season.....I'm betting you would tell me you could.
