And they would circle down wind of you like a big bull Elk would..LOL

I didn't say they were hard. I was just stating what could have made them very difficult.

I've never had a Turkey mounted for the same reason I don't mount Bluegill.

If a turkey could smell us as dangerthey would be the hardest animal in the world to hunt.

Darrall
I would call them in from down wind with the same success:)[8D] I hunt turkeys and I think its easy. I hunt locations to hunt P&Y deer and I find that a challenge, I've never had a Turkey mounted for the same reason I don't mount Bluegill.
Turkeys in KY are different than turkeys in say, NC or PA.

Really depends on sheer numbers. In KS where I hunted turkeys with my bow, yeah, it was easy but hunting where the deer are that way too, well you know.

Just like whitetails, it's all about what state your in. Yeah, I said it!

So you're not much of a turkey hunter, or fisherman[:-]

Never shot one big enough, or caught one big enough to mount? ;)

:D

edit: I'm glad we can count on you to put at least SOME points on the board for Team 8!

Nah, your missing his point. Bluegills are so abundant that it's more of nusiance to catch them than anything, same with is abundance of turkeys, just too easy, they are everywhere. Not unlike some's deer/bucks. It's just a numbers game.

I wouldnt compare a mature gobbler to a bluegill. And i agree with Rob when he says that birds are harder to hunt in some states then others, during archery season in my part of Ohio, there might be guys hunting my block every couple weeks, but there has been a guy in the turkey woods every morning pressuring them this week.

RE: I still say turkeys are tougher than deer

I think its a little extreme to compare catching bluegill with arrowing a gobbler. Anyone who wants to compare the two can come down for a weekend at my farm. I've got an 8 acre pond stocked with bluegill and 380 acres to turkey hunt...
