RE: Could you?

I woke up in the middle of the night once. I was in a cold sweat! Alaska was calling! I was about 36-35 years old, I'm guessing. I decided to give up everything. I was going to move to Alaska on my 45th birthday. It was going to be a two year endeavor. The plan was to kick about for a year to gain residency-I'd do whatever to filled my tummy. During thesecond year, I was going to hunt anything and everything-no holds barred.

At 39, I married my wife. At 40, I was the father of a bright cheerful young daughter-101/2 months later my son came into the world. My plan forAlaska...out the door!

Alaska is a special place (I been there 5 times on various hunts). If I were still single...Yeah, I would go in a second! The vastness, the variety and multitude of the game animals, etc. It's a no brainer! Moreover, given the prolific nature of white-tailed deer, they'll be there soon enough.

My brother lives outside Fairbanks. I have been there a couple times. For those of you that said "in a heartbeat". I want you to go up there in Jan-Feb. With no,light and -30+ temps for days if not weeks on end. Nothingruns unless it is pluged in or left running. Beautifull place to visit, but one of the last places on earth I would live! So NO I would not!

TeeJay has a good point but I think I would do it anyway. I love hunting whitetails but my passion is hunting bruins! I will hunt there some day, just not sure when it will be.

Even tho Alaska is the #1 place in the world that I want to visit some day, I dont think I could give up Whitetails to move there.

Steve I can hook you up with some good hunting up there. My pops shot a 60" bull last year.

There's a few photo albums on there to peruse. They're in the list on the left. (Critters, Hunting, Kejulik and Katmai, Kodiak Fishing, Wounded Warriors)

I think your winters might be a tad more cold then ours. We don't get the -20 to -30 temps like we use to all the time in the winter in January and February. Whats your temps like in the winter? I know you guys get more snow then us.
