Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
So I knew she was coming. I wanted her for turkey season but wasn't sure as I only ordered her a couple weeks ago but when I came home from work tonight, there she was waiting for me on the front porch.
Step One:Hi my name is Rob, I have a problem, I am a bowaholic. Step two: Take her out of the box and look her over, get a feel for her and pull her back. Step 3: Downstairs I go (into my make ship shop until I finish the basement) to tinker. Placed her in the vise and installed a Limbdriver rest. Break out the EZE Eye laser and set center shot. Grab and ACC and my levels and set her just nock high of level (single cam). Perfect. Install Viper Predator Pro MT sight. (of course). ;) Install Diamond Wildthing stabilizer. Tie on nock sets. Tie one side of loop material. (black). Put her into the Bowmender and press her slightly to install the TruPeep Remove her from the Bowmender, pull her back and set peep to desired height. Tie in Peep Tie other end of loop, pull super tight and set to align peep. Dial in sight approximations. Grab ACC 381 grains, send it through the chronograph. (282 fps) 70 lbs, 29" draw. Back up to end of basement, sight her in for 17 yards until tomorrow. Stacked arrows, busted a nock. Take Picture (Man Law), Hi I'm Rob, I'm a Bowaholic. 2008 Black Ice. ![]() |

RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Thanx for sharing Rob. My name is Josh and I'm a bowaholic too :D. . .only I rely onsome pimply faced kid at the local "pro shop" who probably knows alot less thanI do when it comes to setting up a new bow. It is both painfull. . ..and embarassing :(. . .so I was thinking maybe on my next bow, we could meet somewhere along the OH/PA border?? [8D]

Is it considered cheating for me to look at another? She's a hottie Rob, you da man! So you shoot in your basement also huh? It's funny but my basement legnth is the same as yours! I had to break an arrow yesterday because it has a crack in it from getting hit by my others. That's the only problem with the Black Ice!

RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
virginiashadow, thanks brother, I had her out this morning sighting her in. What a beautiful morning, the gobblers were gobblin, a hen flew off behind my targets, the sun was shining. Wow and I must say, what a sweet shooter two. My very first four arrows at 20 yards, I took off a vane and put a hole in a second one with the group. Nice shooter.
jmbuckhunter, I was very undecided on which bow was going into the turkey woods this morning. They are all set up for a different purpose. My Ally was still sighted in from hunting so...but I wasn't sure. Really considered the General amongst the others. She is purdy tho. joshw020, Hi Josh, welcome to Bowaholics Anonymous. You'll like it here. I hear ya about insufficient pro shop abilities, one reason I became as self sufficient as possible. There once was a time when I worked local shops that people would come in and ask for me, actually turning down the dealers when they offered to work on the bows. They said they would come back when I was there. It actually ruined one friendship locally but he (dealer) turned out to be a jerk. bbm, that there front stuffer is 100%, never misfired, never missed. Rhody Hunter, thanks Swift Arrow, sure your allowed to look. I see why you said that in your signature. I shot in the basement as it was raining and growing dark but yeah, when I have too. I know what your saying about the BI being hard on arrows, my first 4 arrows at 20 yards outside this morn I took off a vane and put a hole in another in the group. Time to refletch. farmcntry, I know dude. You coming to breakfast next weekend? Momightymite, Thanks, as far as an appointment, I had a meeting this morning, it went okay but I know I wasn't cured. M.Hensler/PA, Matt, she's here, she's set up, she's shooting fantastic. Was nail driving with Snypers this morning, watch out gobblers. jbowersox, easy to love, easy to envy. ;) SuperRedHawk, I know dude, x2. whitetailbowhunter, that would make 7. [&:] Welcome Mathieu, it's a good organization but bro, 10? You have it worse than I. MeanV, I think I'd turn down the medicine if there was a cure. MW74, she'd be a Hawken, I like her too. Brett, let me know when the Nov meeting will be, remember I'll be in IL. [8D] thanks. ducsauce, Thanks man! Sliverficker, thanks, ruttnutt will love it, she's a shooter which actually surprised me with the shorter ata. Real sweet. racewayking, thanks. What did you think? bloodcreek, yes, that's step one, admitting I have a problem and I like it. :D Greg, Hi Greg, I think however your a senior/charter member. ;) BowKnutt, I hates when that happens, did you elbow her back? [8D] She owes you. ;) PABuck HNTR, Thanks, yup, nothing wrong with being a Bowaholic, I'm in great company. :D |
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Well she's all dialed in. I was out several times today breaking her in. She's shooting awfully well.
I settled her in at 65 lbs, shooting my ACC at 270 fps. That should be perfect for birds. I added a wrist sling and am waiting on a MeanV suppressor to tame her a bit. |
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Rob she's a looker.
The reason I went with a Cardiac is her size for blinds and my boat. Shorter bows are more than enough accurate for hunting. Make sure to Text me if you or Jeff score, I will do the same |
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Looks nice Rob... Best of luck chasing those birds bud [8D]
|
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Nice bow buddy....always had an eye for that particular lady. Smooth shooting. My addiction will have me in a frenzy until I return from the honeymoon to the arrival of the 101.
|
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
Great lookin set up bud, I really don't think those turkeys have a chance.
I still love those single cam bows, really sweet shooters aren't they. Ya know a quick module change and I'm in business. [8D] Take care and good shootin. Brian |

RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
buckeye, thanks bud, I was out this morning and turkeys were gobblin all around the house. One was roosted with hens not 100 yards out my front door. When I was sighting her in, a hen walked in behind the targets and took flight when I went to pull arrows.
Ben, I've been thinking about her for some time. I emailed all the Corporate staff guys and told them to talk me out of it, as you see that didn't happen. The more I shot her today, the more suprised I was. She's a shooter. BPBowhunter, thanks Brian. I'm anxious to set up your Patriot and see how she feels. I've never shot one. whitetailbowhunter, lol nic bleuer, that's kinda why it's a problem...lol jim1966, thanks bud. |

ORIGINAL: whitetailbowhunter Hey Rob how many bows you got now? My name is Mathieu I a bowaholic and if I could I would have at the least 10 right now!:D:D:D[8D] I would be willing to bet that becasue Rob is "bowtech corporate staff" that he doesn't have to pay much if at all for his bows. If his wife is likemost womenshe doesn't care how many free bowshe gets. One the other handfor the guys whohave to pay full price for them, thentheir women start to get a bit mad if they haveto buy a new bow each and every year. Sure new bows are nice to play with and I am one of the lucky ones to get to have the new bow each year. But if I had to buy them, I would pass as save my money for something more usefull. |
RE: Step one: Admit you have a Problem (Man Law within)
iei, there is some truth to it but there is still $ involved. I don't want diminished, this bow was not free and it's not why I have it. I wanted it, I bought it. I make a comfortable living, she does as well owning her own business, $ is one thing we do not discuss. Too many couples make it more of a deal than it needs to be. The other thing, I know next year, either on line or around my area I'm respected enough that I know the bow will go to good hands and I'll be even up.:)
