I'll take the higher road.. once again when it comes to our childish behavior between each other Greg with an H. We both just don't see eye to eye sometimes.. and thats fine.

Consider my postings all gone.

But I still think of you in the lowest of regards.

Hey Greg,.....do you share this spot?

If so.....what's the other guy killing, there? I'm curious as to what that place produces (other than what you have been taking).

Thanks.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I've posted the answers to your question twice here before. It was when I was trying to show that success is not always about location.

Yes I share this with one other guy.

Him Me
1136 gross (not P&Y) 140 gross (P&Y)

2 132 (P&Y)133 (P&Y)

3 Antlerless (shed buck) 143 (P&Y)

4 Skunked126 (not P&Y)

5 115 (not P&Y) 170 (P&Y)

Not taking anything away from him but it's the little things that he does that limits his success.Mostly, he doesn't give the deer enough credit.

Not trying to be a jerk,
Gotta admit...that place is one helluva producer, though. Ya'll just been hutning it 5 years (you cited only five comparisons). I was wondering what the biggest deer (plural) to come out of there have been.

I just asked you a question.

Sorry.

Deer just drop over dead when they hear my car pull into the parking area.
How do you find them after they drop over dead?

What would you say he is doing to limit his success Greg? I know the property I hunt that I am the only one to take a buck out in the last 5 years and I take one to two a year in the 130-140 class. I have taken friends and family there and put them on deer but they missed shots or didn't recover the two that were shot.
I have taken 7 bucks off of the property and my main buddy that hunts it shot a 10 but never recovered it. There is a father and son team and they have killed nothing and the "Mojito Bandito" who hasn't taken a buck. I can attribute my success to regular hunting, understanding of wind direction, knowing what stands produce in morning and night. I honestly don't think I would have success if the deer knew all the other people were there besides me since we all hunt the same 4-5 acre pseudo funnel. We have had over a dozen different hunters on the property in a season but I still see deer regularly so the others aren't screwing up my hunt.
I am pretty sure I know why they are not seeing success while I and my tag alongs are, any guesses?

It's always been about location...LOCATION.. LOCATION. Find the right woods and have no pressure or the right pressure and almost anyone with a brain looks like a magician. Put him somewhere else and it's a different story. I've had those spots and I've had bad spots. It humbles you quickly when you go from Heaven to Hell. I don't see it as a chess match either.... more like a Bar Room Brawl. There are no rules and anything goes and be flexible and expect the unexpected.

RE: Do you think you're out-smarting your whitetails??

I think that deer are given way too much credit most of the time. I know of a few deer that look in trees where I hunt and I believe they might have an association with a different smell in the woods and a previous encounter where they saw someone in a tree or got shot at etc. For humans smell is powerful and a whiff of perfume can take you back 20 years to your Prom Date and the fun that happened after Prom, I see this as a possibility with deer as well.
Deer lead a simple life, they are slaves to their stomach and need to eat as much as they can before the weather turns and the rut starts since they loose so much bodyweight during the rut. A deer will feed, walk, feed, walk, bed, walk, feed, walk, bed, walk, feed, walk, feed, walk. They are on a continuing pattern of eating, bedding, and walking the way I see it. If you figure out the times, where they eat, what they eat, and how they get to their areas of food and relaxation then you are good.
I use the same approach to deer hunting that I did when I was a repo man, Figure out where the sucker sleeps, eats, cruises chicks, etc and know the times they are there and bingo, rollin in the 5.0 to the repo yard.

RE: Do you think you're out-smarting your whitetails??

I guess some deer are smarter than others, just like humans are, but one thing is for sure, we are supposed to be smarter, and I think we are, but we may not be as educated as we should be about deer behavior and that's why they often give us the slip. I learned a long time ago that the ability to reason is what seperates us and other animals, but sometimes this forum has me wondering!! :DMyself included in that I might add!!!
