Just curious. At what point would the speed of your bow make you consider a crossbow? Here in Virginia, crossbows are now legal for anybody. So, why would you buy a compound bow for speed when you could buy a crossbow?

Because I have seen very few crossbows reach the speeds of my compound bow and many others on here as well. Also, I think crossbows are too heavy and bulky to carry around, not much on lugging that and a stand and pack back around!!

Not to mention it is two different styles of hunting, nothing wrong with it but I like the fact that I have to get drawn on an animal and make the shot. A bit more challenging for me, crossbows are fun to shoot but I prefer to hunt with a bow.

I really don't have anything against Crossbows, butas long as I can use a convential bow of legal weight and hunt, that's what I'll do. If had to use a crossbow to continue hunting because of a physical inability to use a compound I would in a heartbeat

It's not about speed.I prefer to BOWhunt. Xbows are not BOWhunting in my eyes.

Never... unless I am physically unable to hunt with a vertical bow....

I cannot even begin to put it all down for you.... but trust me here... a crossbow has positively no advantage at all, other than being easy to learn, over a modern compound bow. Especially when you take speed and energy into consideration, as well as trajectory and downrange energy.

Unless you are like Vabowman and have short stumpy arms....then you need a crossbow to shoot 300fps+ (haha... sorry Landon I couldn't stop myself!)
