We should make this a Poll. YES OR NO

We have a 2 gallon rule here in Michigan. I bait deer on most occasions near home and one in a while on the 500 acres I hunt in the thumb...During late season when going for a Muzzleloader doe.

In Michigan its 3 gallons spread out over a 10ftx10ft area. Thats some pretty sparse feed. But it is to keep the deer from nose feeding, and spreading TB. Bow hunting isnt so busy, but if you hunt state land during rifle season, baiting really helps. The woods are so full and the deer are so pressured, that if you dont give them a reason to show up, they wont. I always bait during firearm season, and have yet to shoot a buck off the pile. They are usually too jittery once the shooting starts to stop and eat for very long. But it brings in the does, and the immature bucks. Usually once the does show up, a buck will show up sooner or later. All the bucks I've killed while baiting were not within 15ft of the pile, only passing through looking for the does.

Be it a feeder, food plot, honeysuckle, corn broadcasted on the ground with a spreader or food scent...its all a FORM of baiting.
So, why I dont put out corn...I do hunt planted fields and areas in which I attempt to keep a consistent food source for deer to rely on...thats baiting !!
I don't view a food plot as bait. Do I have them? Yes. Do I hunt them? Yes. I view them as something that is providing a YEAR LONG benefit to my deer herd. I have both warm season and cool season plots. I don't solely plant them to hunt on them. There is a major difference between the guy that buys a 200 dollar feeder and 300 lbs of corn and sits 20 yards away verses a guy that gets out and sweats clearing land, tilling land, and plants and maintains plots.

No, I don't bait. Yes, it is illegal in my hunting area.

YEs it is legal and yes I do it on corn piles. I hardly ever kill a buck off of a corn pile and I havent in two years. The food plot is by far more productive (and cheaper to boot) so I am switching to all food plots and acorns.

ORIGINAL: GMMAT

No discussion required on the legality/morality of the practice.

Is it legal in your state to do it.......and do you?

Yes. It's legal in my state.

No. I don't do it.
Now that you have a 105+ answers, I was wondering what the point of this thread actually is?? No disrespect just curious???
